With all the recent hubbub over the Dirty Donny and Revell vans... I'd much rather see any one of these reissued.

Nice compilation. I really like these posts showing the history of these old, reused kits. I remember some of them. Those Desert Dog tires actually fit this 1/20 scale kit - they were tossed into a few 1/24 kits as well and the wheels always looked too big.

I always wondered why the tires and wheels in the MPC "Mount 'n' Goat" Jeep Commando (and later versions) were so oversized!:

Did any other MPC 1/25 scale kits use these 1/20 scale wheels and tires?

I think the Fall Guy Chevy truck and a Dodge D-50 had them - probably others.

Edit - I actually think the d50 had a smaller set of desert dogs.

MPC got a LOT of mileage out of those Desert Dogs! I always wondered why they seemed closer to 1:20 scale... now I think I have my answer. :D

Thanks for adding the Shock Treatment version, Brad. Does that make nine versions, now?

Even odder, but still related to the 1/20 scale tires and wheels in 1/25 scale kits is the MPC '76 Dodge pickup, which includes 1/20 scale Goodyear tires. I think the wheels are suppose to be 16.5" in 1/25 scale, but I will have to measure them to be sure. I guess MPC didn't want to tool up a new set of truck tires just for this kit. Notice how MPC was careful to refer to the tires as "giant vinyl tires" and not "off-road tires", as they are clearly a wide, street (maybe even a race rain tire, as used on the front of the MPC 1/20 McLaren kit?)...on a 4-wheel drive pickup.

They do look almost like an Indy or F1 tire- I know some of the MPC 1:20 scale show rod kits used those same tires. Popcorn Wagon is the first one to come to mind (rear tires only) but I know of a few others I can't name at the moment.

I like Shock Treatment there, I drove a 70 and a 74. 2wd though, a quadravan would have been killer.
Someone should repop one of these. Any scale, so long as the body is stock.
BTW shouldn't it be '69-'74 fords? '68 Econoline is like a '83 corvette.

I've been collecting these kits for a while now, I'm trying to collect all the van kits as we have full size (1:1 scale ;) ) vans also. I've got 11 different 1/20 MPC van kits.

The kits I have and there kit numbers are as follows:

1-3061 Supervan
1-3062 Visible Van
1-3063 Highjacker
1-3064 Slammer van
1-3065 Shock Treatment
1-3066 Wizard
1-3012 Ironside van
3370 '70 Chateau club wagon
1-3371 '71 Econoline
1-7331 Ford Van
1-7431 '74 Ford van

There's also two box art's I've seen for the Visible van but I only have one so far in my stash, all up I've got over 60 different van/sedan delivery kits (excluding resin bodies, add about another 12 or so).

Some of the hardest things I've encounted collecting van kits is no one has ever done a complete list of all the van kits built (a checklist would be handy!) and the major hurdle is so many ebay sellers will only post to the United States, most of the ones I've contacted usually agree to post to me but there's still a few that simply refuse. There's plenty of money to be made posting to Australia!

Cheers Rob

Between everyone on here we could give it a good shot based off what we've got between us. I could get pics of all mine or list them up, I'd love a list I could cross them off as I got them.

As I mentioned earlier I've got 11 different 1/20 MPC ones, 3 different Revell 1/16 plus a heap of older 1/25 kits, I include sedan deliverys in my collection because I consider them as vans too.
