Very nice pics! However, this reinforces why I could never warm up to Fujimi's depiction of that car. The kit body doesn't have the right bulges and curves like the LeMans cars...........instead they just used the flatter body of the '66 Mark II car and tried to pass it off as the '68-'69 LeMans winners. :(

Just to touch an actual original GT40 is on my bucket list, to ride in would make a dream a reality

These cars had but one purpose in life,,,,,,,,win races. with Lemans as the primary target

These are beautiful cars and I have a couple of the Fujimi kits in my collection. I remember being at a classic car show a number of years ago and the guy who owned one fired it up and blipped the throttle a few times.... I ###### near had a crisis!!!

Very nice refrence pics. I think this is the first time I've seen a MkI. I know that the 68/69 car (same chassis won both years) is a MKII, and the car Foyt won LeMans with was a MKIV. You can really see the differences between a MKI and II.
Here's a MKII

UPDATE AUG 20 2012:

The car just sold for $11 million at Pebble Beach - a new auction record for an American car.
