raildogg
Just got my new big rig cleaners from Shapeways. I designed them in Solidworks coverted to an stl. file uploaded and chose my material, polished aluminide, and viola I can finish my KW900 wrecker. Lownslow
does alumilide have a "weight to it"?
Chief Joseph
Looks great! Just curious, but why did you choose this Alumide material over the Frosted Ultra Detail or Strong & Flexible material that's used to print most scale model parts? raildogg
I chose that material hoping to polish it up , but no biggy, plan to try out Alcad(sp) anyways. Yeas there is some weight to it but no so much as it will over power gluing. I had two printed, a LH and RH units, at about $32.00 for both, pricey ,yes, but next time I'll go with FUD. Live and learn! Edited February 17, 2013 by raildogg
Lownslow
hollow it out if youre going FUD you can go up to 1mm wall thickness the thinner the cheaper
NormL
Alumide does not have enough aluminum to polish (obviously), it does raise the heat capability quite a bit
