Topics I've Started

'53 Vette Streamliner

17 May 2014 - 12:29 AM

This started out as a part started donor kit (thanks Mate)

The styling looked very clean without the chrome & screen & it reminded me of an early streamliner so that is what it developed into. Kept the six & supercharged it & I think its the right way to go. Headrest was inspired by a '50's Sebring Corvette I saw on TV recently & I shaped it to tie in with the the tail light fins.

They seemed to have kept the paint schemes simple for the streamliners back then but I couldn't resist some flames! Colour is Tamiya Camel Yellow

Had a lot of fun doing this one & it looks good on the shelf, something a little different for a Corvette I think.

'53 Vette Streamliner

20 April 2014 - 09:24 PM

This started life as a donated part-started kit (thanks Bruce)

I didn't realise how close to a classic '50s streamliner the basic original Corvette was if you took off the screen & chrome work
There will be a rigid single seat cockpit cover & fairing & some wheel spats if my scratch skills let me get that far.

Keeping the six with a supercharger to keep it period

The patches on the boot lid cover large holes I had to cut in the fold between the guard & boot to clear the wheels & keep it all low enough. Still a lot of body work to go obviously.
Anyway it should be something different !!!

Little Black Rail

07 April 2014 - 12:28 AM

My first post in the Drag Racing catagory !
Started with the Hippie Hemi... threw the body into the parts box (good bits for custom pannels etc) & scratch built a little period flat wrap shell
Nice, well detailed Hemi, looked good with the yellow block & simple black frame so I kept the decorations to a minimum. I know the Class is wrong but I liked the script!
It turned out to be a sweet build & looks good on the shelf!

Richie's Liquid SSR

07 April 2014 - 12:09 AM

One of my mate Richie's favorite builds. Paint is Tamiya Lame Flake (PS-53) with five coats of clear.

The photos don't do it full justice. It looks as if you touched it, the paint would ripple like water.

Very clean build & the paint suits the styling I reckon

Richie's Cars #2

30 January 2014 - 11:45 PM

Thanks for all the positive feedback on Richie's first show.

These two rigs are well worth a good look too. Finishes are superb & the added detail on the trucks & trailers just adds to the look.

The Chev/Offy combo..
