Topics I've Started

Bonneville Boss

08 June 2014 - 03:10 PM

Monograms' Boss Mustang turned in to my idea of what a salt flats version may look like

Rauh Welt GT2

22 April 2014 - 08:20 PM

This is Tamiyas' 911 GT2 kit with the addition of a C1 Models Rauh Welt trans kit. This was a challenging build as the supplied body shell needed a lot of work to get it to fit and in to shape.

I added Hobby Design brakes and machined my own wheel rims to fit modified Tamiya wheel centres.

The front and side skirts were lowered and Hobby Design rivets added.

The wheel arches were also modified to add to the the buxom look these cars are known for.

40 Ford Street Rod

22 April 2014 - 07:50 PM

Little needs to be said about Revells'  40 Ford kit. Everything goes together as it should and there is no shortage of different ways to build it.

I built mine  as a traditional rod.

Monogram Hot Shot

28 November 2013 - 01:04 AM

This one is Monograms 1/24 Hot Shot Midget Racer. I've read where this was originally released in 1965 both as a static kit and a slot car.

It would have been  a very delicate slot car but this very simple static kit built up easily without any issues.

My kit was built from the mid 90s reissue.

40 Ford Speed Shop Pickup

11 November 2013 - 11:10 PM

My idea with this one was to make a shop truck that was a work in progress with a lightly weathered primer paint job but a interior that was finished.

The engine is out of a Revell stock car and the rear end from the Revell 32.  Revell Orange Crate wheels with big and little white walls  from Tweety Pie.

I machined up a few knick knaks and added various P/E bits from Model Car Garage.

Apart from a few fiddly bits this kit builds up without any major drama and for a kit originally from the 80s I believe ?, it still holds up well.
