Show Preference

10 March 2014 - 03:15 AM

We are rethinking our show  (The Buckeye Classic) for next year.  While I love a good competition, I really love to look at and discuss models and what others have done.  In a competition, the names of the contestants are hidden for obvious reasons.  This does not allow the opportunity to talk to the builder of the really cool model you see and find out how he did what he did.  At an NNL style show, since there are no awards, the name of the builder is displayed with the model.  So my question is, which do you prefer?  A NNL style show with no awards, or a straight up competition?  Which would you be more likely to go to?  What would make you go to one over the other?  What makes a good one of each to you?  Thoughts? Comments?  Thanks for your input.

It's Here! It's Here!

03 March 2014 - 07:31 AM

Nope, not the new phone books, the first week of the month!  You know what that means, the BSAC March meeting is this Thursday at the Speedy O'Raceway at 628 Harrisburg Pike in Columbus, Ohio.  We'll be there at 7:00 pm.  Bring out your cars or trucks to show off and enjoy the fun.  The big discussion will be about the upcoming show on the 23rd.  Notice how I kept the Irish references to a minimum? That's because we are hiding our pot o' gold from the leprechauns.

57 Altered Wheelbase Gasser

05 February 2014 - 01:37 PM

Ha! Made ya look! You thought it was going to be a Chebby!  In the spirit of the recently completed "BattleFord" '57 Land speed car, I thought I try to do another '57 Ford for the Ohio Challenge.  I have about 2 months to finish this, but I got a good start today, I had a snow day! Yay! NO School! (I'm the teacher). So, I spent all day cutting, grinding, measuring, chopping, filling and gluing and my evil plan is coming together.  By day a mild mannered Dr. Jekyll family car, a 1957 Ford Custom 300 2 door sedan.  At night the mad doctor gets out the blue wrench and the welder and it becomes; Mr. Hyde, a fuel injected, fire breathing, psychotic thrill ride filled with 427 cubic inches of Cammer powered terror!  The rear wheels are moved forward, the front frame rails are replaces with rectangular tubes and the interior has been modified.  Watch out Chevy drivers, the doctor is about to allow the inner beast to come to life!
