Topics I've Started

04 April 2014 - 06:21 AM

Wrapped it up the other day.

Resin body, scratch built wing, nerf bars, and hood, Monogram Super Modified chassis and engine.

"On the Workbench" thread is here:

As always questions, comments, and critique are encouraged.

Building a Skeeter!

25 March 2014 - 11:49 AM

Started working on this today:

It's called a "skeeter", sort of a poor mans super modified. And in fact that's what I'm basing the chassis on, the old Monogram Don Edmunds Super Modified. I got the resin body years ago.

Like I said, the chassis is mostly from the old Monogram kit. I moved the roll cage rearward a little bit and made the front and rear bumpers, and side nerf bars from Evergreen .080" rod.

The wing is also made from scratch using Evergreen .010" sheet.

Instead of the kit fuel injection I think this engine will have triple carburetors to more fit the theme of lower budget racer.

What do y'all think?

Revell '57 Ford

20 March 2014 - 07:57 AM

Just finished this Revell '57 Ford.

Mostly stock except for the wheels and tires which came from a Monogram '65 Mustang GT-350 kit.

Paint is Testors Graphite Gray Metallic and Classic Black over Gray primer.

And what about the Holman-Moody logo on the front fender?

Oh, that's for the engine:

The Holman-Moody Ford 429 NASCAR engine came from a Polar Lights Torino kit.

Comments and critique are welcome and encouraged.

Frank Mundy Hudson

26 February 2014 - 11:36 AM

This is a car that I've wanted to do for years. I had to not only wait for Hudson kits to hit the market but for decals to be available too!

It's not completely finished yet because I haven't done the engine. I may or may not install one, we'll see.

By the way, these are Power Slide decals and are probably the best decals I've ever used. . . . ever!

Anyway, I just love the colors and graphics and how well they work on this car!
