In Topic: anybody else have this problem (brake fluid)

Dave I feel for you buddy. A long time ago I tried to strip a model RR engine, key word try, with brake

fluid and it stripped the paint fine. It also stripped the bonding agent from the plastic leaving it in the shape of an engine but a rubbery, crumbly mess. That being said, I'd say your problem is the plastic. I now use brake fluid exclusively with no problems. Besides its cheap, a buck at the dollor store, and I can't find purple power around here.

Chris, HELP! I'm going thru Mooneyzs withdrawls, and I need a fix bad. I have followed your build since the beginning and have been blown away by your phenominal attention to detail. Please get back to the bench, for your own sake, I'd hate to see this project end up in a box on a shelf, yoyu got too much invested in it.

Bill E. ---- Thanks for the link to the Craig Stansfields 2011 R & M catalog. I'm building Revells Datsun 510, with the moulded

in tail lights and would like to keep the surface detail.

Joe ------- Thanks for the suggestion, but like I told Bill E., the tail lights where moulded in and I cut them out without any thought

                as to what next.

Bill G. ---- Your links were older than Bill E.'s link but include pictures. Thanks anyway. Buy the way, I like your YouTube channel.

Snake45 -- Thanks for the tip on the epoxy, I see what you mean about rubbery, the 5 min. stuff I used has filally hardened

                   (only took 4 days).

I'll let y'all know how the next batch turns out.

Great model Rick, I know how you feel. Back when I was 16 I totaled my moms '63 Buick Electro 225. lost it on a wet street and slide sideways into a phone pole, digging a 3' trench. I got my drivers license 2 days before and the car just returned the day before from the upholstery shop with new seat covers, mom was NOT happy.

Thanks guys, was thinking of making a set of headers for a double dragster build, but decided go with plastic rod and drill out the end instead.
