Topics I've Started

59 El Camino

09 February 2015 - 01:53 AM

Second build completed for the year!

Probably one of the most difficult kits I've ever built, very challenging the BMF and final assembly...talk about EPIC  !

But in the end I was happy how it turned out, I was inspired by a picture I saw with pretty much the same colour and wheel style  ;)

Tamiya TS-60 Pearl Green which is a real nice colour, happy how it turned out complemented with some colours to suit the overall look...

Just a few minor details for the engine, had to trim the tri-carb set up to allow for the hood to shut flush, wheels are from Pegasus and a few bits and pieces from my spares box  ;)

Cheers

Ray

37 Ford Coupe

19 January 2015 - 02:47 AM

G' Day folks,

First one for 2015.

Revell 'Good Guys' street rod kit, decided to have some fun with this and turn it into a sleeper of sorts!

I used the intake out of a Sprintcar kit which is a good match in my opinion and certainly looks like it was made for that engine bay.

The 'nostalgic' resin wheels are from 'The Parts Box'

Base coat is Tamiya TS-29 Semi Gloss Black followed by 4 coats of Tamiya TS-14 Gloss Black.

The interior and wheels were painted with Tamiya TS-7 Racing White.

Once again I used the Tamiya polish, starting with the coarse then onto the finish and with summer here 'Downunder' it makes painting / polishing real easy and sometimes you can lay down a smooth paint job in the nice warm weather.....

Cheers

'70 Impala SS 454

24 November 2014 - 05:20 PM

G' Day Folks,

Decided to have a bit of fun with this kit, it's not bad for an AMT.

There was no way I was going to build it like the box art suggested, so I turned it into an 'unmarked' Police Cruiser.... ;)

Although not accurate, but I think it captures the era in my mind....

Testors Sable Brown Metallic over a Silver base coat and polished using Tamiya finishing compounds, Tamiya USAF Tan for the interior.

All the extras like weapons etc came from my spares box except for the Cop and flat top bubblegum light which are from PoliceCarModels :)

Engine received a bit of detailing which includes a Dominator carb so he can catch the bad guys  !

Cheers n Beers

G' Day Folks,

Finally off the bench this one, built as part of another forums CB

AMT kit, gone for the mild custom look, using Tamiya TS-89 Pearl Blue over a Testors Sterling Silver base coat.

No clear coat, just polished using Tamiya finishing compounds.

Shaved the door handles, trunk hinges off and cut the pillars off to give it a hardtop look.

A basic interior in order to match and highlight the overall look.

The engine is a flathead with small blower resin kit from 'The Parts Box'.

Wheels are Pegasus

Cheers and thanks for looking

Ray
