how did you get your paint and rust to look like that?

Its the first time I`ve done any type of weathered paint job. I enjoyed doing it. Took only a few hours to do and I didnt have to be concerned about a perfect finish. The plastic color is a shade of silver plastic that when sanded looks quite a lot like fresh bare metal. Over that I sprayed a complete coat of grey primer. I then brushed on testors flat black right out of the bottle to give the surface a rougher finish. While the flat black was still damp I sprayed on a few thick coats of dupli-color hi build red oxide primer. I let it dry a few hours then scuffed spots all over to the car. After the scuffing was to my liking I sprayed a clear plastic adhesion promoter over the entire surface, let that sit about an hour and then sprayed it again. The reason for the promoter is that after it dries the second coat seems to mildy attack the paint leaving the entire paint job looking weather checked and cracked. It`s hard to see in the pics but in person the paint looks very dry and is covered in spiders and cracked paint. It even seems to melt the exsposed plastic a little so it looks like old metal. I`m pretty pleased with how it all came out.
