  1. Past hour
  2. Beautiful Bugatti. Excellent job.
  3. Oh...the magnet thing is not my idea, I merely passed it on. I've been using it for several years now though. I picked it up, I think, on the old SA forum. Your idea for the "ears" combined with the "nose" magnet, potentially, makes use of the firewall/cowl slots found on many kits. In some of my builds I have closed those unsightly slots intended for "hinges" or used them for wire hinges, as was appropriate. Now, thanks to you, there is another option. Kudos! 🙂 (what's a kudo?)
  4. Yours truly expected some resistance to that, but for proof, just look at drag and road-racing and roundy-round "slicks". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racing_slick
  5. Hesitant to post this as you guys have some amazing skills and I'm just getting back into kit building after a 30+ year hiatus. Anyway, my friend @Duane Garner encouraged me to post it, so here she is. It's an MPC '73 Cougar body (that Duane gifted me) on a slightly modified AMT Banjo Matthews chassis. The numbers came from a JNJ Roy Payne Hyde Tools sheet, the rest are from my decal sack. I'm an old school racing geek, love them all but partial to anything under the blue oval umbrella. I really need to publicly thank Duane for all of his help and encouragement since I've returned to the hobby. What started as a business relationship has turned into a friendship .
  6. you could try the double sided tape they use to fit new phone screens. you can get it down to 0.5mm wide in clear and black. Its not cheap (around $20 for a 10 metre roll) but its plenty strong. one of my friends uses it to hold the headlights on his rc hotrod and he beats on that thing hard.
  7. For best results, it's often wise to not be in a hurry. I tape or otherwise fixture window-size clear parts when using any of the PVA (white) "canopy" glues that dry clear. Using a quick-set epoxy is another option. Let it tack, then mount your "glass". But the best way, in my opinion, is to make up retainers from strip styrene that will allow carefully-fitted windows made from clear sheet material to snap in place, often eliminating the need for adhesive altogether.
  8. Honest to goodness, I don’t know if I believe that last statement of yours.
  9. Love the wear and the staining on this one, plus the base brings it that much more to life.
  10. Welcome to the forum, Steve. Good to have you aboard.
  11. Snake is apparently doing fine, health-wise. From what I understand, he's just choosing to take a board break at this time.
  12. I was brainstorming this last night, And I think I have a pretty cool build in mind. Three builds, actually. A C3500 crewcab duallie, using 3D printing and parts from my OBS wrecking yard. A 20ft car hauler trailer, fully printed An AMT C1500 454SS, with a number of upgrades. It's ambitious, and will take a while, but should look cool when done. I hope.
  13. That's a very juicy group of kits. I have nothing to add of value, but I am interested to know more about the BMW M1 kits pictured. Which is the better kit? Any input anyone may have regarding those kits is appreciated.
  14. No, headache rack is from MODELLBAU1ZU24 over on Cults. https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/headacke-rack-trucks-1-24-scale-v3
  15. Actually a bit of correction. The McLaren was originally issued by AMT. The only three MPC Indy cars were the Dan Gurney Eagle, also issued as a Bobby Unser car, Lotus Indy Turbine and 1/20 Silent Sam turbine.
  16. Just thought of this last night. With the recent re-release of the Chev C1500 truck, I think a revised and improved 454SS is inevitable.
  17. Is there a faster setting method that will grab and hold quicker?
  18. Sorry to be pedantic, but real clear cellulose acetate sheet is still widely available, as a google search of the term "clear acetate sheet" will show. It's even marketed for specific aircraft uses, and in aviation, you can't call stuff by the wrong name. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/mepages/acetatesheet.php Here's just one of at least hundreds of commercial sources. https://www.jacksonsart.com/en-us/grafix-clear-acetate-pad-11x14in-003in-25-sheets
  19. Excellent work! The more I look, the more details jump out at me.
  20. Currently starting work on a 935/77, the current Italeri release but the tooling is 45 years old as it got passed around from Nitto, AMT/ERTL, Entex and Italeri. It is a simple curbside kit but the shape of the body looks to be pretty accurate and it rekindles a love affair with the outrageously wild and beautiful group 5 race cars. Group 5 rules were created by the FIA for the 1976 championship for makes (from 76 to 80), then the world endurance championship (81-82) but were also adopted by DTM (77-81) and IMSA for the GTX category. Porsche was the biggest player with so many variants of the 935 but many other manufacturers got in the mix creating wonderful cars. BMW, Ford, Ferrari, Lancia, Chevrolet, Nissan, Toyota etc. Many of kits have been made but most have origins in the late seventies / early eighties. I've compiled a list of some the kits I could trace as potential future builds as my interest in the category is growing fast. I've re-grouped brand releases under one picture when my research shows the tooling was the same. I am sharing my initial research with the group and asking input from all about your experience with these kits to help discussions around which of these may be the better ones to consider. All of these are 1/24 scale.
  21. Nothing wrong with that, just directing people to more 32 longroof goodness.
