Scale-Master Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 This was one of the most enjoyable models I have ever built. (And I have built thousands.) Fit and engineering are superb; a highly recommendable kit. I was able to build this in less than two weeks, start to finish. The rear wing can be displayed up or down. I like that option, but in the end I like the look of it in the down position. I went with the flat black wheels because the silver plating looked too toy-like with this color scheme. WIP Thread: http://www.modelcars...opic=53593&st=0 I did some light weathering and shading to break up that mass of black on the belly pans. At least some of the chassis detail shows through… A couple shots of the engine…
LAone Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 fantastic work mark. shame about the hidden details as they looked fantastic. im looking forward to my LFA kit to arrive..
kingtoy Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I love this build. I want one of these sooo bad.
martinfan5 Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Only word can describe it, beautiful , you did a great job, I was watching the build thread. I have been wanting to do this kit for a while now, need to get one soon.
moparmagiclives Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 AWESOME !!! I'm loving that car more and more. One question mark, are those key holes at the rear edge of both doors?
Erik Smith Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 (edited) Oh, that turned out very nice. I like the flat black wheels. This car is not about the wheels - and I think chrome or silver would make them more of a focus. Very well done. Edited February 15, 2012 by Erik Smith
weasel Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 verrrry nicely done.... have only seen 1 other, Bob's in the other mag?? i can't remember which pub... anyway, it's nicer than Bob's..... sorry zz...lol
Scale-Master Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 One question mark, are those key holes at the rear edge of both doors? Thanks everyone. I'm not 100% sure if they are door locks, but the instructions said to paint them silver.
Ryan S. Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 This came out great, Mark. I really like the pearl white paint on there with the CF top.
crispy Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Mark, fantastic job on the Lexus! It looks intimidating in the box, but yours and Bob's both look fabulous. I'm looking forward to getting to start on mine. The CF top really adds to this one. Chris
jdmfan Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 (edited) verry nice . i agree with you a awesome kit to build . probably the best quality kit ive built. i did mine met black with gloss black wheels . but im really liking that white. what did you use for the carbon top? Edited February 16, 2012 by jdmfan
Scale-Master Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 I used the SMS Hi-Def 1/20 scale C/F.
Monty Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Eventually we're going to run out of superlatives if you keep posting up stuff like this. As you said, it's too bad so much of the detail is covered by the panels on the chassis, but at least we got to see it. I can certainly see why you enjoyed building this kit. I noticed the model is RHD. Do you happen to know if the initial 1:1 version will only be made for sale in Japan?
weasel Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 don't let him kid ya!!! he's got a shrink ray for goodness sake!! lolol i keeeed, i keeeeeeeeeeeed...
jaymcminn Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Man, that's nice. Love the white with the red interior.
