HondaSan72
I have a question. Does anyone know what type of solvent is good for separating two pieces of glued plastic? Someone mentioned a debonder from my local hobby shop but couldn't tell me how it worked. Will it damage the pieces? How much to use or how long to soak it for? Thanks in advance for any info. Ace-Garageguy
... Someone mentioned a debonder from my local hobby shop but couldn't tell me how it worked... "Debonders" are intended to break down CA glues (cyanoacrylate "super" glues), not the typical toluene / acetone / solvent glue most modelers use. Because solvent-type glues work by actually melting the plastic and fusing it together, debonders won't have any effect if the model was assembled using solvent-type glue. There are numerous posts available on here about which methods folks prefer for dis-assembling models built with solvent glues.

Zeekodadi
i used the purple stuff to remove paint from a model that I'm rebuilding, it also softened up the glue joint's. but they where least 8 years old. also some just pop apart with a bit force.
