danman
Neat little forum, here. I grew up building models with my dad, and recently decided I wanted to get back into it. Went to Hobby Lobby today and picked up a few models and began working on them. Along the way, I had some questions. I'm totally new to the customization of model cars, but I would really love to build some old slammed hot rods as well as some late model stuff. Where do you guys get your aftermarket parts from?? Engines, wheels, etc. Little bio: I have been a gear head all of my life. I have a 430whp 2004 mustang GT that is my weekend toy. I've built golf carts, motorcycles, basically anything with wheels lol I think building smaller scale cars will be just as fun, and not make my wife mad when I buy parts! Look forward to enjoying your forum! -Dan
jrherald420
Welcome from LaVergne TN. I get most of my stuff from shows now but before I attended them I used online sites like Ebay and Mega Hobby.
Petetrucker07
Welcome to the forum. You will be amazed how much this scale stuff costs once you get goin. I've put over 500 dollars into a rig build. My Cannonball entry, the forum community contest, I've got over a 100 bucks in it already, it's still a pile of parts. I'm not trying to scare ya, it's a ton of fun. I know 1:1 costs much much more as I have 73 Camaro with a small block 406.
danman
Wow! I'm sure as with anything, it can get expensive. I'll most likely stick to buying $25 kits and swapping wheels and lowering the ride height. I used to live in LaVergne! I live in Jackson now.
