Lyle Willits
I drew my 1978 Anniversary Sportster in 1979. Uh,,,,that would be the 75th anniversary! I drew it on black paper using pastels and ink. This is a drawing of the '71 Spitfire I owned after I had it repainted. The car isn't really crooked and out of proportion,,,,,,I shot the photo from the side to avoid the flashback. These are the only drawings I still have. I did most auto and motorcycle artwork in pastels. I did several drawings for friends who are long gone, along with the artwork. I never could do amazing stuff like Jairus does. I always had to see the real thing or a picture, before I could put it on paper. I had a good friend who had a 10 year old boy who was fasinated by '70's choppers. I drew a large, framed Harley chopper is pastels and ink and it was Mikey's most cherished possesion. He died of Hogkins at age 11 and the picture was placed in his coffin by his dad. Yes, it's a sad story, but the memory of Mikey has stayed with me for over 30 years. I'll have to dig out the photo of the drawing and scan it.
