'70 Dodge Challenger T/A

Right now I'm working on a '70 Dodge Challenger T/A that I started soon after I got laid-off in March. I started it in a hurry and got carried away and didn't mask anything off on the body so I decided to start over and ordered another body. I just got the body the day before yesterday and I am going to run the stripes from the hood down the body line on the side. I used Krylon's textured shimmer hoping it wouldn't be really textured. Unfortunately its like 60 grit sandpaper. Many coats of Future will need to be applied. Its also my first time using the Future for a top coat so if anyone has any advice on what not to do or what to do, please, I'm all ears! My next project will be a '69 Dodge Charger Daytona. I'm not sure what direction I'm gonna go yet. I'm thinking maybe PLUM CRAZY. I have never seen a plum crazy Daytona before (though I'm sure someone will put a link to one on here now) or maybe sublime green. I'm not sure yet, but I do know that I want it to be something different and bright and maybe TWO-TONE. If anyone has any suggestions for color schemes on that one I'd love to hear it. I love the world of rat-rods and MOPAR. Along with just about everything that has to do with power, whether its a bike or a frame with a seat and a big HEMI. Thanks guys.

As usual I cant get my pictures to upload so heres my photobucket page. Sorry guys. I know its a pain in the butt. I'll get it figured out one of these days.

 Abe, I can't remember where I saw it but in one of the recent mag issues they showed a Charger Daytona that was a light lemon green and darker green that looked just like a WATERMELON!!! Try that paint job on for size and I'll bet you'll be the only kid on the block with one!!! :D:D;)

SWEET!!! I thought that was cool!! I also saw MANY more color schemes I loved. Heres a few more.

Ireally like this paint scheme. Its a little advanced for me though unless I can find a decal that big.

I may have to do 2 Daytonas! :D I think thats a good idea....

Abe all you got to do is left click on the 4th line of text underneath your image on photobucket ( IMG Code), it will copy itself and then paste it into your post, like this

Well.... Since I had a brain fart and jones reminded me I'll put a few on here so no one has to go to my photobucket page.

New body same hood. Bringing the stripes down and along the body line.

I wanted to paint the seats in ghost grey, but I might just do all black and do it right on my Daytona and the rest of them from here on out.

Here you can see the paint. I used krylon's texture shimmer hoping it wasnt too textured. Turned out to be like 60 grit sandpaper!! Many coats of Future in my future.

New body masked like it should have been in the first place.

Not too sure about masking off the molding though?? Any advice?

I'm thinking maybe PLUM CRAZY. I have never seen a plum crazy Daytona before

That's because Plum Crazy was not an available color in 1969. However, if you're feeling really ambitious, I do recall seeing, in an old issue of "Guide To Muscle Cars" from 1985 or so, a photo spread of one of three 1970 Chargers supposedly converted by a company called Creative Industries into a 1970 Daytona. It was a Plum Crazy 440 6-pack car with a sunroof. Sounds like it would be an interesting build. Here's a link to a lot more info:

Abe, one way to mask that would be to take a piece of regular masking tape, lay it across that crease, and make some kind of tracing along the crease.

Cut out the tracing using a hobby knife (Not on the body!) and then using another masking medium, (I like Tamiya Tape the best) put the tracing on that, cut away the pattern, and you'll have your masking to follow the contours.

If you have Tamiya Tape, you may be able to get it to bend around that kink behind the door, but you'd have to experiment since I couldn't tell if it'd work or not.
