  1. Most of you guys have such neat and organized workbenches, makes me feel ashamed to show mine. LOL Here's mine anyway, I'm scratch building an interior for a 1/18 scale Concept Bronco body for a scaler RC chassis. Here is a closer, minus a few details I added later. Ignore the date on the pics, my kids had the camera, and I just noticed, sorry about that.
  2. Excellent work, the details, vehicles and building are amazing, very well done indeed.
  3. Oh Yea! I like it, looks a lot better than mine. A little bit of dust and road grime add to the realism, very nice. I got mine at a Big Lots store, they had a few, but seems like they are all gone now. BTW, I corrected the backwards tires, thanks for the heads-up. I will look for some reference pics in future, and take my time to do a better job, thanks.
  4. Amazing result, from such a simple technique. I'm gonna have to try that. Thanks for the step by step pics, very motivating.
  5. Thank You guys for the kind words and encouragement. Angelina ? must be tending to all those kids she has LOL. I was being impatient with this build and made some silly mistakes, like using CA glue ect. Anyway with a few touch ups and some minor sanding it should look better. I believe the tires are Mickey Thompson Baja Claws, 1 /12" dia. x 1/2" wide. Parts laid out for final assembly. Apart from the obvious, it turned out looking OK. Thank for taking a look, I still have a couple of other 1/24 kits waiting and i intend taking my time with those.
  6. Just noticed the date in the camera is all wacky, sorry. I picked this up at a thrift store, a while back. I had some time on my hands and decided to throw it together. My skills are not on par with some of you guys so please!, bear with me. I did paint a few parts before putting the chassis together, all the bits laid out. Got the interior assembled. Did a minor bit of detailing on the dash ect. Made the noob mistake of using CA cement and will have to do some touch up.
  7. Wow! what a great paint job, thanks for sharing that technique, you make it look so easy, give me about a dozen tries and I might come close Great work.
  8. I must say, your Amoco project, looks real sharp. The vise and some other tools and things I made are for my 1/10 scale shop, to be honest it's been a while since I made anything smaller than 1/18th. I have are four or five 1/25 kits i have not yet built, I picked up a Revell Jeep Rubicon kit at a thrift store, NIB for eight bucks, that will be my next build. Here is one of the latest pics of my scale shop.
  9. Thanks Ed and Dave, sorry for the bad views in the pics. I added some worker figures and a scale model of the Hydraulic power unit we use to the model, but I'm still looking for the cd with the photo's. The concept is driving a 14' stainless 'screw' into the earth and a bolster plate is drawn up against the surface to anchor the seawall, as apposed to the standard 'deadman' anchoring method, here is a link that will explain better, http://www.dsms1.com/ Click on 'how it works to see the model with workers ect. I recently started to build a scale shop to use as a backdrop for some of my vehicle builds. And a few details, a vice using styrene.
  10. This is something I designed and built from scratch a few years ago, for a company I am involved with. It showcases a new system for securing and maintaining seawalls all done from the water side. It is used as a tool at trade shows to explain how it all works. I have since built a second model for the golf course division The plexiglass cover was removed for taking pics, the base is 24"x 36".
  11. No relation to the island, got it from a silly book title 'My Life as a Racing Driver' by Caymin Last. Yes, sharing idea's and tips, is what it's all about, beside being able to showcase amazing projects. There will be questions and requests for 'how to' I'm sure. Thanks, for the warm welcome and encouragement. I have updated my sig, thanks for pointing that out.
  12. I found MCM while looking for idea's on making scale accessories from styrene. First, I'd like to say Hi and Wow!, you are a very talented and skilled group guys doing some awesome work, and just browsing around the forum is like being a kid in a candy store. From an early age, detailed models have always fascinated me, especially cars and trucks. I have been building models on and off for most of my life, and have also built some scale models in a professional capacity. I have already learned a lot from just looking at the caliber of craftsmanship on the board, and expect to learn more. Thanks guys!
