BRACING UP THE BODY!

I measured and cut some plastic strips for Body Braces.

I glued in one on each side to the '57 Body.

Then I glued in two more strips, one on each side. These braces will hold the Z-28 body sides straight.

MAKING ROOM!

I marked the Inside Body Sides using the Outside Wheel Wells as guides. I am mounting the BiG Deals Wheels Tires as far inboard as I can so I need a Lot of room.

I cut pretty close to those lines with a Cut-Off Wheel, then I used a Sanding Drum in a Dremel Tool to round out the Inner Wheel Wells.

Ira, I really enjoy your creative spin on all these kits I never really thaught much of. Lots of fun watching what you'll come up with next.

Thanks Donald!

ZZZZZZ-28 UP FRONT!

I looked at a lot of different possibilities for a New Front End and I ended up coming back to the Z-28. It looks like it will be a Great Fit!

After some measuring and fitting, I marked to cut off line for the Z-28 hood...

DSCN4478H_zps45e40e37.jpg

I cut off the Z-28 Hood with a Cut-Off Wheel in a Dremel Tool.

I glued the Z-28 Hood to the Front End.

Now for some more Fitting and Cutting!

IT FITS!!!

After a little more Cutting & Fitting the Z-28 Nose fits on the '57 Chevy!
Here are the '57 Chevy Front End Cuts after I fit the parts together.

Here is the Heavy Chevy with the ZZZZZ-28 Nose glued in place.

Still pretty rough but we are getting there...

THICK HOOD!

Here is a close up on the front, notice how the Z-28 Nose sets lower than the '57 Hood....
I hate too add a lot of putty if I don't have to, fortunately the '57 Hood is Very Thick, so I ground it down flush with the Nose.

I also ground down the areas below the Headlights and around the Nose. Here is the Front End after the work was done...

GAPS!

I have 2 gaps in the Underside and it hangs down too low...

DSCN4552H_zps56fd275c.jpg

I filled the gaps with plastic strip and glued them in place.
I marked a starting point where I will cut off some of the low area...

I cut the extra underside plastic away. Here is the final shape!
