Edsel-Dan
You could start with the Lindberg/IMC/Testor's Tank, Box or Flat bed and build one of them Short. That is an option on all 3. Max trailer length then was 30-32 feet. and many box vans had a rounded front, so all kits are too modern. You will have to modify one to correct specs. I am not sure where to go to find plans for trailers of that era
Aaronw
A truck built in 1949 could easily still have been hauling cargo for a local independant operator in the early 70s which is about the period most of the trailer kits represent. I'm not positive but I think the Lindberg flatbed, tanker and van trailers are a bit older style than the AMT and Ertl trailers. If you want it to accurately represent a semi in the 1950s you are going to have to do some scratchbuilding.
blazefox
I was thinking bout buying a l700 and tanker trailer kit, it seems most era specific

lapazleo
Yes AMT made a 5 car hauler that resembles something from the late 40s to 60s. unfortunately it's been out of production for some time so prices are high.
TUFF TIN
That Haulaway Hauler would be just right. Mike
Q tip
my grandpa drove back in those days pulling a short single axle box and also pulled single axle livestock.most of those trailers had landing gear that folded rearward with a cable system. I vote for a livestock trailer if you can find or modify something out there...

Guest Johnny
Or something like this! They were still using some of these(longer versions) into the late 60's early 70's for local deliveries of their furniture.
