The lonestar is .....

Recommended Posts

I worked with this model and to ms it's a waste of 60 bucks. I never had something that had such issues

1. Instruction Manuel is the worst. Your left scratching you head alot

2. Gaps gaps and more gaps I could park a truck in the gaps between hood and body

3. Instructions on painting parts is sooooo dumb and hard to follow so much time wasted

4. I find it to be of high quility but of poor exacution

This is my personal option. I think it it needs some improvement to make it a better deal mine is now boxed back up and waiting in waste management to take it away. I had to paint it twice do to parts not fitting one was the grill. It stuck out about one mile.

So on top of 60 bucks I lost 12 on alcohol to strip it plus another 15 or so on paint plus about 20 hours in time lost !!!!!!

I've never had a Model make so angry and upset in it

I wrote the company and they wouldn't offer a refund or send a new model. And to be honest I don't want another one... They sending me a few parts I couldn't save from first paint set up confusion. But no help with it going strait to dumpster

All I can say is if you go after this model really think it over it's a great highly detailed kit but it will pull your hair out in great clumps

Gary

Ps forum sorry for my rant but I took a great lost in money and time on this kit and from other posts and scratch builds you'll know I love this hobby

Just want people to know both sides of this kit

Hey Gary!! I've heard alot of bad things about the Lonestar too!! You hit on some of the things I heard about and saw for myself!! The instructions...Are a "Joke" at best and the fit and finish.....It's a "P-O-S" that looks like an oversized "PT Cruizer". And a buddy of mine had so much trouble building the engine that he Litterally glued the hood shut!!!! My opinion is they should stop production on this "Nightmare" and fly it across a few more drawing boards before pushing that "Garbage" on truck builders again!!! Maybe the Prostar will be better!!! Only time will tell!!! Other than wasting your hard earned money, You did the right thing by tossing it!!! Moeibus should be ashamed for not trying to help you because of their SHODDY products and poor workmanship!!!! I won't buy any of their products and if enough builders "voice" their displeasure...Maybe they will rethink their services...

Sorry you feel like that. It truly is a great kit and it can be built very well. I'll offer some constructive critism here in that You have to learn to test fit parts before you start gluing things together.with super glue and model cement. if it's a kit you've never built try asembling with white glue one your sure everything is correct in that assembly blow it back apart and assemble or paint.

The instructions of the kit were in my opinion some of the best and some of the worst of any kit at the same time.

hang in there don't give up on the manufacturer they are pushing the envelope on detail.

I agree and the first reply in email from mobius made me feel like a idiot like I dkdnt know how to build a model

can't offer you a refund but if you got it from a hobby store I am sure

they have a return policy. As it says in the instructions, we always

recommend test fitting parts before painting or gluing that way mistakes can

sometimes be prevented. If you need some replacement parts I can help with

that but cannot send a whole kit. It would be exactly the same as the first

one you got so it would not help you with the trouble you are experiencing

with the fit of the kit.

Thanks,( I'm sure I could but I left guys name out )

I mean nice he offered parts but it's like come on you got a unhappy customer here. I was looking forward to prostar and the reefer trailer but heck not now when it's got they're name behined it. I'm a strong believer in customer satisfaction and well they didn't come threw for me.

I test fit stuff but with the instruction your left winging it at times the grill stuck out about a 1/8 inch on each side there was no way in getting it to line uP. The gap between hood and body was insane I think the cab sat sloped back. As is the trucks air bags had been drained. I've really enjoy this hobby and I do test fit things but to find and or fix what they had wasn't going to be fixed by testing fitting !!!!

To me I hope they enjoy the 60 bucks they got from me but I'll never buy a mobus item ever again and anyone who asks I'll tell them to just buy a die set of a lodestar it's going to look better !!! And is worth it

I learned my lesson on this kit. Dont but from them!!!!

Yeah I still got it I'm. Going to save the wheels and some other items. For a walking floor trailer I wanna do. So if your. Looking for something inpaticuler let me know

I hear ya tim. I know I could of done it too without following the shoddy instructions

I think my issues with kit started as a simple hey this doesn't line up and this is hard to read

And then as I went on they( being little issues) compounded with each other and became one big pile of hatread and frustration with the kit.

I test fitted most items and everytime after I painted the kit and started to assemble once I glued grill do to it being curved it kept popping out ( a d no it wasn't a over glue issue ) it was a tension on the part issue

The cab wouldnt stay put on it's mounts and for me it have to be mounted sidewYs to get it to come close to hiding the gap in hood and body

They're is plenty more to write but I give up on it and just wanna move on and go b k to what I love most paccar products!!!!!!!!!

How can you blame Moebius for issues with paint?? I agree the instructions are a bit confusing but out of the many Lonestars I've seen built so far, your the first person to be this upset. This is Moebius' first truck kit EVER. Give them some slack. How about the fact that are taking the chance that these kits will even sell and yet they are already offering BRAND NEW subjects! It's a model kit. Tell me that there's another model truck kit out there that every piece just "falls into place"!? I have them all, there are none! I appluad Moebius for their every effort and will continue to do so simply for the fact that they care about us model truck builders and even listen to what we have to say.

Who me ben? I'm not complaining....I was just saying I need his cab bc I messed up my paint and cab. I love the model personally...I want more of them I'll buy the prostars too when they come out. I want to build a heavy haul using revell alaskan hauler and the lonestar cab.

I got it in front of me right now and your right its a nice kit but it's got some issues with fitting and ok I'll take Blane on paint but it just sucks to come this far and not have something nice looking back at me

I'm just flustered I guess. I dug it back out of trash and I'm going to Finish because I never give up. I just look at it and see what it could if been I just don't wanna spend the same amount again for the fear of what could happen with the next one. But then again I'll have licked my wounds and will better off and and ready for the next one !!!!

Interesting, the one I built I didn't have any instructions (test shot for the magazine) and only had a problem with the bumper fitting ?

This what happens when Pick Up, SUV and car model builders try and tackle real trucks. When i see posts saying "I'm not a truck builder, but..." I expect things like this. Maybe 300 pieces is too much for you.

I've had the same issues with some of AMTs kits. Some of them work really well like the K-123 and the Road Boss, But the White Freightliner wasn't so hot. The cab never came together right and the finish of some of the chromed parts was sub standard. I didn't really want the Lonestar because I Think they're kind of ugly, after some of these comments though, I really don't want it now!

I totally agree. The first model I ever built was the Australian Western Star when I was 13, It wasn't easy, but I stuck with and it turned out great! Model cars are a lot easier than trucks, not as many parts nor details. I always suggest that people start with a Revell kit like the Aerodyne KW or the Pete 359, they're great ways to start.

interesting that you say that, because i'm not really much of a truck builder but i have done a few that turned out pretty nicely. what i get out of your statement is that you think you are better than the "Pick Up, SUV and car model builders" because you are a truck builder?

I got the same thing from what he said too

if you think cars are so much easier, let's see how you do with a Fujimi Enthusiast kit.

Those kits will make even a very experienced modeler use some four letter words and want to smash it into pieces

I will agree that I was unhappy with the instruction sheet, and hope that the same style instruction sheet is not in the prostar or the trailer kits. Sure there were some fit issues, but they really are not that bad. it really is a very nice kit.

I never said they were ALL easier. I did a Fujimi Ferrari Testarossa and will admit it was very difficult. Heck, right now I'm looking for a Fujimi F40 because they're challenge but quite fun! But most of the people I know who build models try to go from a 50 part Ford Mustang to a 300 part Revell Germany Peterbilt. For some it 's easy, for others it's difficult.

Well chuck he does have ligitement complaints. I don't think its right for you to put down any builders car or truck. How many lonestars have you built? In fact I've seen a lot of "car" guys build there first truck and they blow mine outa the water. I think gary just may have had a minor bad experiance but is gonna jump back on board and handle it just fine. Maybe you should be a lil more encouraging and offer some advice, ya know the more truck modelers we get , the more trucks we might get to see hit the shelves. Next time you think about bashing a "car" guy building trucks take a look at one of doubled's builds
