C/F questions

Recommended Posts

I spent the last week out in Oregon with my family. While I was there i was able to spend time with my father-in-law and show him the pics of the Bison and what I had collected together to reproduce some of the rigs he used to drive. We spent lots of time looking at images of CF trucks and this is the type of truck he drove.

He told me that the solid green truck was used for in town deliveries, while the white trucks were the road trucks. He also mentioned that CF had canvas topped trailers with hinged walls that folded flat along the side of the trailer and you pulled them out across the width of the trailer to section off the load as needed. So now I need to do more research and look for pics of these canvas topped trailers.

I also needed to know if the tractor is available in the aftermarket. and what chassis would be a good one to start with. I know I purchased a resin body a few years ago, but now am not sure its the correct one. So off I go to find it.

EDIT : Nope, I purchased the International, which is the wrong tractor

Sam,the recently re-released White-Freightliner C.O.E would be your best starting point, much easier to find (and cheaper) then the single axle. Some modifications will be nessesary, single axle, single headlights etc. As far as the two trucks pictured, from what I know the green truck is the "old" color scheme, white the red and white was the newer style adopted just before C-F went under. Consolodated Freightways is where Freightliner trucks originated, they wanted a truck built to their specs. so they built their own!...............................Mark

The DD Freightliner can be converted real easy. If you need the rear cab windows ask someone for a template from the SD kit. The DD kit still has the rear glass included.

Chris, for pictures, check hanks truck pictures web site, ton of truck pictures there. I am using them for reference for the CF kit I am doing.

I also got my CF decals from Jerry, good stuff, and he has a ton of carrier's to choose from.
