MCM Regular (3/6)

  1. Excellent build. My very first car was a '60 Phoenix only it was a four door sedan. Your attention to detail is very good. The only "niggle" I can see is, I believe, the dash mounted rear view mirror was a dull silver, not black.
  2. Looks great. You are often too critical of yourself. The ONLY thing that jumps out at me is the angle of the steering wheel. In the '50's the wheel was almost vertical. Was this built into the model? Is it something that can be changed?
  3. Hey Everyone, if you click on the photobucket icon the picture WILL come up and you can see the usual superior job that has been done.
  4. Outstanding, as usual !! I do believe the early GM windshield washer systems worked by vacuum. The one in my '56 Olds, I believe, was Tee'd off of the dual action fuel pump on the line that went to the wiper motor.
  5. As to the torque-tube chassis, JoHan wasn't always well known for their accuracy. Most, if not all, of their two door hardtop kits and promos used the interior bucket from a convertible. I guess it was easier, and cheaper, to use for both models even if it was wrong for the hardtops. I imagine the same can be said for the chassis. They probably did a '66 Marlin, Classic or Ambassador and just continued to use it for The Machine.
  6. Sometimes you can pick up a promo model off of eBay at a reasonable price. That's what I did for the model Ramfins built for me. On all the Rambler American kits and promo models I've seen from Jo-Han they based them all on the convertible which makes the rear seat area on the hardtops WRONG.
  7. Very nice build. Besides the missing stainless trim on the quarter panel mentioned by tbill, the panel right above the rear bumper should not be chrome. It was body color on the Biscaynes.
  8. What's "oddball" about an Ambassador? This is an excellent rendering of a beautiful vehicle. We in The Wonderful World of AMC prefer "Dare to be Different" as our motto.
  9. Excuse me, but I was not being smug about it. My info source was the 3rd Edition of the Standard Catalog of American Cars 1946-1975 and 50 years of driving. That being said I will now admit I was WRONG. The Del Ray seems to have been a trim package within the 210 series. It provided carpeting and all vinyl upholstery in place of the rubber floor mats and vinyl/cloth seats.
  10. Very nice build BUT there's no such thing as a '56 Del Ray. The Del Ray didn't come out until '58. Chevy in '56 were the 150, the 210 and the Bel Air
  11. Very nice but does that big honkin' V8 start with that 6 volt battery??
  12. The "X" package on the Hornet was NOT available on the 2dr sedan, ONLY on the Hatchback. Back in the day I bought a brandy-new '74 Hornet X in dark blue with a black interior. Wish I still had it.
  13. There have been several 1:1's built. There was one on eBay about two years ago. Don't know if it ever sold. The model is very well done.
  14. Very nice but why no BMF on windshield or vent window moldings??
