Hello everyone,
This is my first post so I'll see how it goes. I have been posting off and on at another site but it seems like there was a lack of interest in 1:8 plastic cars. Not so here, so it seems.
I am just finishing a modified 1:8 Big Deuce. It's your basic channelled & sectioned body & grill shell, chopped roof & windshield, rolled pan, Z'd frame, custom firewall, hidden door hinges, shaved door & trunk handles, filled cowl vent, frenched scratchbuilt '50 Pontiac tail lights & license frame, etc. I filled the rear window on the roof and re-cut a new oval window and added chrome trim.
I've also done a 4-link suspension in front & triangulated 4-bar in the rear (made from K&S aluminum tube). Rear cross-member is Evergreen channel. Coil-overs are scratchbuilt as well as front shocks (made from the kit chrome exhaust tips). Front axle is drilled, leaf springs are scratchbuilt. I used the Ford banjo rear end from a Lindberg kit. Steering box was relocated to accomodate new body & frame modifications.
I modified the Big T gas tank and put it in the trunk. Uses a scratchbuilt V8 logo gas cap. Battery is also in the trunk.
Engine is the flattie with the 3-carb set-up. I'm using the Hilborn scoop from the Exterminator kit. Headers are scratchbuilt.
Tires are the Firestone bigs & littles. Wheels are chrome steelies with custom V8 logo hubcaps. To be different I'm using body color beauty (trim rings).
Interior features a solid wood dash & scratchbuilt '40 Ford steering wheel. Bucket seats from the Big T.
I will post pictures when it is done.
I'm also toying with a chopped & sectioned '32 panel delivery based on the Big Deuce cowl, hood, and front & rear fenders. I have the basic rig mocked up. I'll take some pictures later and I would appreciate any comments.
Another WIP a Mooneyes (inspired) dragster. I'm scratchbuilding the dragmaster frame from Evergreen tube and will use the front mounted blower engine from the Exterminator kit.
Thanks again...Crazy Stevie
