I built this kit to try and push my skill limits, and see what I could come up with. its 99.99% done, I just need to pick up some aluminum tube for the tips, as the stuff I have left over is from Semi Pipes so its a llittle large!

As usual when I post stuff on here, I'd like anyone who reads the post to do their best to pick out every little goof up or problem, as thats how I improve. Ill be the first one to point out my own mistakes as well!

The first thing I goofed is the side windows. even with the clear window glue, I still glue bombed them20140525_103924_zps80871137.jpg

better picture of the dash..

im also not really happy with the hood. due to the slow drying of enamel some junk landed in it, and its not very smooth.20140527_105832_zpsf23b2497.jpg

the exhaust was warped and didnt match with the manifolds verywell, so I wrapped some BMF and wrinkled it to look like that heat shield tape.

Ive never been able to get the 440 decals to lay down flat. ugh.

Nice Charger! Try some clear Elmer's glue for glass on your next one. I've heard it's pretty good and is a lot cheaper than the stuff you were likely using. As for the air cleaner decal, did you use any decal setting solution? It really helps decals lay down over body lines, contours, etc.

I will definitely try that on the next one, I just use water.

Very nice paintjob

Thank you!

Well, if you really mean that...

The medallion at the top of the interior door panel, the door handle, and the window cranks should be chrome. The wipers should be silver, not black. On the plus side, the paint looks fantastic!

Try some decal setting solution on the air cleaner decal... that'll get it to flatten out.

Haha, I really do! And yeah, I know about the medallion and the window cranks.. I tried multiple times with BMF to get them but I couldn't pull it off... thus the silver paint on the cranks, and at the time I didnt have a brush small enough for the medallion.

Im not sure what you mean by door handle.. the handles on the outside?

I'll make a note on those wipers.

Thanks for the pointers, I appreciate it!

Hmmm.... I didn't notice that you painted the window cranks. And by door handle, I mean the inside door release that is at the front of the armrest.

paint looks fantastic!

decals.......micro-sol, works wonders on decals that have to conform to odd shapes/bumps etc, usually it takes a few applications, but makes worlds of difference.

window glass/lenses, I have been using floor polish [pledge/future] it not only 'glues' the glass in, but gives it some depth/realism. just dip it in to coat it, let the excess run off, and install.

look for some micro brushes, they are great for itty-bitty details, they are like a miniature Q tip [only way I could describe it]

good work, look forward to your next build.

Very nice. Other than the flaws mentioned, I see you missed the mold parting lines on the mufflers.

That I did! Huh. It look like I got one but left the other. Weird

Fantastic looking car. Only thing I can add is that you forgot to fill the seam in the transmission.

The purple Charger is one of my all time favorite muscle cars. Great job!

good point, thank you! Edited by Mrdarkmonkey96

Anthony, those round Mopar air cleaner decals can be a 'real' bugger, I failed on my last attempt to get one to follow the air cleaner top contour. You can apply 'decal setting' solution all day long and it's still not gonna work. It was pointed out to me by someone on this board that the trick is cutting the decal evenly into 'halves' and then applying them. That's what I'm gonna try on my next one.

You put a lot of attention to detail on this build, and it shows, we all improve with practice, progress, not perfection. Your next build will reflect that progress as you keep building. You're already ahead of the game with the way the paint job turned out, keep up the good work!

I love '68 Chargers!!!!!!!
