Brendan
Picked this kit up at this year's NNL West. The kit is from Wave which is a small Japanese manufacturer. What I can tell you about this kit is that it's a hunk of plastic. Nothing fit properly. As you can see in the photos, the body did not fit well at all to the chassis. Only reason I build this kit is that it is an interesting subject. And I didn't want to buy a resin kit of it. The only upsides to this kit were the decals and the glass fit. Other that that, not really worth building. Paints used were Tamiya's TS-26 and TS-16, airbrushed. And Tamiya Acrylics for the interior. I didn't try to fix too many of the mistakes. Just wanted to build something to get out of my non-building slump. Feel free to comment. Edited August 8, 2011 by Brendan
Scale-Master
I think you did a very clean job on it. Looks really good!
Harry P.
I've never seen this kit, so I have no idea what the issues were, but you sure did a nice job with it! I can see that it's very simplified, especially the engine and drivetrain, but you have a nice, clean shelf model there.
cruz
Very cool, don't know which ones have more issues, these or the Fujimi Enthusiast kits....
Mike Kucaba
UH-Oh! I have one of these in the stash . You did a nice job with it. Hope I can do the same.
curt raitz
Holy Cow! I tried to build this kit about 20 years ago...what job that was, sure didn't come out as nice as yours Brendan, you did a great job on this model c'ya
GeeBee
Yes some of those old Heller kits were a bit fiddly to build, but looks like you did a good job on this one, looks very realistic to me ..
Brendan
Thanks for everyone's comments. To kind of give you an idea of how bad the plastic was...the body was warped and I warmed it up in some warm water and tried to bend it back into shape. As soon as it cooled down, it cracked. I completely forgot that this was originally a Heller kit. The Wave kit added some photoetch pieces that were completely mis sized for the kit; not even worth using. Hopefully this will get my rearend going and start doing some models. I've been out of town so much, it's hard to get into a rhythm of building. Scale-Master
I was not aware this was an old Heller re-release. I have had frustrating experiences (similar to what you described) with those old kits. My earier compliments can be multiplied x3. Very well done! Crazy Ed
Nice Build Brendan. That's a Car one doesn't see everyday. Union also released what I imagine is also a repop of the Heller kit with an optional spoiler for the 908 also. Crazy Ed
