This is for the old Revell kit that was released most recently as the Ed Roth car. Yes, I know, but this is a nostalgia thing for me. I was 9 when the 1968 release came out and that was when I built it. I thought that this trim was stainless but I am not sure. If it is, apparently the Bare Metal Foil people don't make any in stainless, I had thought they did several years ago, but I am probably wrong. Anyway, it is not listed on their online site. So what can I do to make this look reasonably realistic? I can't afford the Model Car Garage PE kit for the AMT 57, even if that would work. Since they don't list this kit I have to believe they know what they are talking about. Should I use a chrome foil? Metallizer paint? Something else? When I built this '57, I just foiled the whole thing & then brush painted the insert with Testors Dullcoat. Easy way to do it, & I think it looks fine. Mark Posted July 3, 2015 Share Posted July 3, 2015 I did one of the Revell kits last summer; on it I did the "washboard" area with the matte aluminum Bare-Metal Foil, and the rest of the trim with the regular chrome finish foil. Painting the washboard area with aluminum silver would work too. You're looking for something of a contrast between the anodized aluminum insert, and the polished stainless trim.
