  1. Hoping some of you can help. Been building a number of drag cars over the years and always admired those who built a frame from scratch. I’ve really focused most of my builds as outlaw cars as I like the stock appearance with some body mods. Problem is that the chassis’s over time have become more elaborate and for sake of scale I’ve been using spare chassis from the Pontiac pro stock kit and modified a few bars here and there. I’ve also faced a lot of issues with height and length as it’s not made for that type of car. I’ve seen some go off of drawings from chassis shops web sites but never can find a place that may have a 2 to 3 view that I could enlarge to build to each type of car I may be building such as a nova or a camaro. On another note how are you getting the bars to join so neatly. I know that in the 1:1 they notch the pipes but can’t seem to find a great way to make this happen on a small scale Any help would be greatly appreciated
  2. I wanted to go off into a build territory that i have never done before. i am really interested in building a model a copped rat rod but dont know where to start. while i found some jimmy flinstone bodies that may work, do i need to scratch the chassis or can something pre existing be used. i have searched to see if someone had a drawn plan to go off of but i had no luck. i want to slam it and kind of follow a drag theme to it. kind of like this
  3. So if I use this starliner chassis is the frame seperate from the undercarrige or does it require it to be cut away. The reason I ask is if so why wouldn't it be done to the marauder chassis. I know that the exhaust and all is molded in so that would require removal. Now if you are not planning to show off the bottom is there any other reasons for the chassis swap. I know that I will need to rework the interior cause of the rear bench seat.
  4. ok im hoping someone can help here. I'm looking to build parnelli jones 64 mercury marauder stock car he raced in 64-65. I know i read a thread somewhere and now cant seem to find it on how to build a more detailed chassis for this kit. I did acquire the suggested book by Bill Coulter in building and detailing scale model stock cars. In the book it states that you need the 64 marauder, 63 galaxie,66 fairlane, 57 fairlane. what is doesnt state is which one is used to the mate with the marauder body. pictures start out showing the mercury then somehow focus on the galaxie so im a little confused. can someone help? Darren
  5. I didnt know if this was the section to ask someone if they have wheels and tires that can be used for a trailer diorama. Im currently in the build processof a 1/25 car hauler for Tony schumachers dragster. Seeing as this is a scratch build i was hoping someone can help. Im only in need of 2 complete wheels as im only doing this trailer as a half wide build. I dont want the trailer to be the center of attention. Can anyone help. Looking for something that ud see in a hauler like this one
  6. If anyone has been following my post on the ramchargers build you'll know that last week i ran into an issue with the decals. Seeing that there is no aftermarket decals for the ramchargers dragster i was at a crossroad. What you see below is a "what if" concept. I tried looking for decals that mimic that era. I used slixx decals don schumacher indy cuda winner as the artwork. While there was no such dragster made by don, I hope you guys like the Idea.
  7. Ok guys, thought id get you imput on this. After looking all over for anything that would work i came up with a "what if" design. I tried to keep it retro and used a slixx decal sheet from don schumachers plymouth cuda. I figured i keep it mopar and didnt want to have to disassemble the block to repaint it again. let me know what u guys think.
  8. Ok im hoping someone can lead me into a direction now. I managed to get the car into primer then base coat gloss white so I could get the decals on. Well thats when things went south. I cut the stripes back as to not have any decaled edges that werent red just due to some discoloration once placed on the pure white body. the problem was when i applied the ramchargers decals to the sides as usual i use a setting solution. Things went down well with no problems. Added some solvaset to the decal and didnt seem to really permeate or soften the decal but i figures i give it some time. I came back 45 min later and around the lettering i had wrinkles that were quite noticable and despite any application of heat or further applications as well as burnishing the decals i could not "iron" them out. Its as if the paint underneath shrunk but really wasnt the paint. Well 2 hrs later and the body was stripped and in primer but have come to a delema that there is no decals aftermarket for this bodystyle. Ive thought of some ideas but really havent been able to come up with something that would work so im asking if anyone has any advise on what to do. Ive been thru the slixx decals but everything seems move oversized for this car.
  9. not a whole lot of progress but some. I managed to place comp resin 60's era driver into seat but need to rework the legs. right now they go directly into the pumpkin and if im not mistaken dont they run over the top if the diff axle shafts? The other photo show a dry fit of the motor with the scratch fuel pump in place. I had to open the front cowl just a little more to be able to fit that motor with the pump in there. I also received my wheels from MAS but am sad to say need to go back due to the outer rings that make up the rim had too high of a side wall. Im assured by terry that he will send a new pair. Otherwise just slow and steady. hope to have in primer by the weekend and some white. Also received the right 4 butterfly blower cap for the car so im in the process of running the fuel lines.
  10. if you dont mind me asking, how long is this. I have a black and white drawing to go off of to build from but need to figure out how much i will need to enlage to fit 1/25 scale. having a langht and height will help alot. I sent a pm to you as well regarding this trailer for help if you havent seen it yet.
  11. I'd be interested in how you made that hauler. I wanted to build.something like that for my top.fuel. do u have any plans for that dual axle transport. Any scaled plans for 1/25 ?
  12. thanks scott, yea wheels are on order from MAS and just received cast parts from comp resins. Ive been kicking around the idea of a driver in the cocpit. Something to really tie it all together. There isnt as much going on in this build as far as detail just because things were less complex ie fuel system delivery and etc. Just a nice clean build of a nostalgia.
  13. thank you all for the positive feedback. to answer gsser 59, the plan is to create a hauler as a backdrop for the car. Im only interested in making it as a background to the dragster so i will scratch build it from sheet styrene and only make it half the width. I hope to fill the areas around the car with purposeful equipment such as tools and fuel barrels. Since our regional contest isnt until sepetember i have a little time to use on my other build.
