Greg Myers
When I was teaching, back in the '70's , my students often referred to these as "Cobras" . So I had my work cut out for me. It does say "Cobra" on the side. I can see how they may get a little confused, though. Edited April 2, 2015 by Greg Myers
johnbuzzed
Nope, definitely not the same, but licensing sez "yes"... much the same as the Torino Cobra, too.
Joe Handley
Considering the second pic, I'm surprised they even noticed the craptacular little car!

Stray
We had a 'Cobra' over here too. A limited run of XC Falcon Coupes that received the moniker and a distinctive paint job. Greg Myers
Don't get me wrong, I like all of these cars, Cobra II's and Cobra Falcons as well, it's just when people refer to these cars as "Cobras".

blunc
this is why I refer to the original "Cobras" as "AC Cobra"
Snake45
Nope, definitely not the same, but licensing sez "yes"... much the same as the Torino Cobra, too. There's no such thing. There was a '69 Ford Cobra. It was built on the same body as the Fairlane and Torino, but it was NOT a Fairlane or Torino. It was just a Cobra. cobraman
Bought a brand new 1978 Mustang King Cobra right off the delivery truck in 78. Never thought for one second that it was a Cobra. It was a fancy Mustang, nothing more. It was a cool car however. IMO
Greg Myers
I think so too, Kool wheels and all. I know they were a blast to drive. Just the thing for the times. Edited April 2, 2015 by Greg Myers
Jon Haigwood
I classify it as Shelby Cobras (true Cobra) and Ford Cobras(promotional Cobras)
Art Anderson
Man, that is a sexy car. If you think the Cobra moniker is overused, how many different Spyders have we had? Well, considering that "Spyder" is very much a generic word as opposed to a marque of automobile, it's a word used to describe all manner of vehicles by their respective manufacturers. It's even used as a corporate name as well. Art

With automobiles, you are pretty much correct! Alfa Romeo was creating Spyders over 80 yrs ago. Art
