Hey George53 buddy, thanks for emailing me and checking if everything was cool with me.

Here you are George, the car that you saw in person when you'ze was litlle at the track

Here's something you dont see every day, Allison V-12 aircraft powered home made dragster from the 50's. Most know who Art Arfons was and what he did for the automotive and racing. This is one guy who either had a death wish or just plain nuts. But through his engineering of dragsters, numorous land speed record breaking cars, to monster truck pullers he was one of the most famous pioneers of racing with his Jet engine powered 1/4 milers.....so I decided to build this from scratch except the Allison engine and see what i would be able to accomplish.

Frame rails from styrene square rod and round rod, Allison aircraft motor from the Revell parts pack, wheels from the Ford F-350 dually, tires from old 1940's truck and as for the body.....

;) lets say I had 2 choices..... 1-buy an aircraft kit at a cost of $40+ and hope to be the right shape and size.....OR.... :o UM! think WAY outside the box and UH Yikes!! devile go to and adult store and buy a torpedo for $7.95, LMAO gut it... so I can cut it up and weld the nose end to the frame which happens to be a perfect fit and shape.

Guess which one i picked

thanks for all the great comments guys. Very appreciated.

when I purchased the UH UM!! body ..... the Mrs was with me, store policy is that they open the package and put batteries in it to assure that it works before you leave the store. I was doig fine until it got to this part.... The sales lady asked my wife if she wanted to assure that it worked and she replied to the sales lady" its not for me its for him" RIGHT THEN!!! my ears were on fire ...at that point I was left with lilttle choice but to explain what it was for. The sales lady asked if I could send some pics after it was done. Her husband builds model cars too and she said that without the pics he wouldnt believe her

updated pics. This front axle is just for mock up. the stance is actually a littlt higher in the front than what I have it. Finally got the primer on it and next will be the dark green. After lookin at some old pics. The green is not or doesnt look like the John Deere green. its quite a bit darker.

Ok More updating pics. I found a green in Tamyia paint that is very close to what the real car is or was lilke. I would have to say about 90% accurate, I think my color is a tad darker

I also got the front panel made that sports the steering column and pedal assembly

I started building this car on March 3rd 2009....so 12 days to build. To be honest, its was not a very complicated car to build. The motor is the most complicated thing on it. The rest of the build consists of 27 pieces of plastic, 1 torpedo :lol: , from the parts box - 2 axles, 4 shocks, 6 tires, 1 seat, 1 steering wheel and 1 set of pedals.

Thanks for the comments....very appreciated.
