  1. Just restarting this hobby after a "break" of a some decades. The detail and quality of the models toady is light-years beyond what I had those years ago. But, anyway my favorite tool of the moment is a pair of reverse tweezers with a 45o tip I got at Hobby Lobby. I've used them to hold small parts for painting and for picking up and holding peices without the need to constantly squeeze the tool. The pressure at the tip seems to be appropriate for not causing dents or other damage. I'm sure everyone has one, but it's a great and flexile clamping device.
  2. There are some great sites for the older Mopars. Google will give you some good ideas and a fine start. I would recommend some Mopar fan sites like the forums at forbbodiesonly.com and the forums and selling pages on moparts.com. Good pictures and some good info on specs, colors, and the like. There can also be some attitude and other things typical of fan sites, but you might get some good info and inspiration.. Both sites are free to register.
  3. Like a lot of young guys, I used to make model cars. But that "young guy" stage was a few decades ago. So nostalgia has set in, and I think about some real cars I had as a young adult - one especially. Not a rich guy so buying restored car, or restoring the one that's on my mind, is not in the cards. So I saw the MPC Dodge Dart Sport at Hobby Lobby when my wife and I were out and about. That '75 Dodge Dart is the car that has been on my mind lately. So, I went back and bought it, along with a few hobby tools that I no longer had on hand. My original '75 was the Claret red color - a kind of light burgundy, but pretty close to a "normal" burgundy color. It also had the black vinyl "halo" half roof cover. I know that at some point I had pictures of that car, but who knows what box/trunk they ended up in, so I'm going by memory and a few pictures I've found on-line and from various Mopar forums. Been reading the thread here about the MPC kit and a few of the issues it has. That's O.K., I'll just take my time. And maybe find some accommodation for the frame issue where it lines up near the bottom of the front wheel wells. I'll see you all on the forums, no doubt with questions. This is going to be fun!
