Bug Eye Sprite/Frog Eye

Ok guys, I've started another one while I still have alot of unfinished ones

Well here goes. This is a Bug Eye Sprite that I got from my hobby store. The guy couldn't sell it because it was put together, and believe me, it was a reall bad Glue bomb with one wheel missing and the front bumper broken and part of it was lost. The windshield was a mess with glue all over it and the car was almost empossible to get apart. Sometimes the freezer thing doesn't work and you have to go the drastick way (what that is I don't really know, just had to say something I guess) Anyway, I got it apart and I'm trying to get-er-done. Here are some pics of what she looks like so far. I used red primer, then Testors 1104 Red. Over that I used clear mixed with some gold pearl. Then I used Future mixed with some more gold pearl. Hope ya like.

The pics really don't show how good the gold pearl turned out over the Red. Hope ya like. More to come. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

The color is really sharp.

Thanks guys. I'm going to use a set of wheels that I'll have to take a pic of and post them. I don't know where they came from because one of the guys in our club gave them to me. The kit is a Lindberg kit from some time ago (I don't really know when it was made) It says on the box it is 7/16 what ever that means. It's really close to 1/25 scale I think. Stay tuned. Dan

it looks great that pearl, thing, but i dont really know what is future?

Future Floor wax. You can spray it on or brush it on. It really makes them shine and won't hurt the finish. Dan

Hi, Dan. That Bugeye looks pretty cool in that color! What you've got there is the old Monogram Austin-Healey Sprite. The first box didn't have a scale on it as shown below. It was from the Forty Niner series that sold for $.49 in 1960.

Here's the second issue that has the scale on it as 1/32. The body is actually bigger than that, as it scales out to around 1/28 scale.

The Gunze Sangyo kit of the Bugeye Sprite is 1/24 scale, which is the one in my signature. I've actually started modifying an old Monogram body to fit on a 1/32 slot car chassis, and being a little bit bigger than 1/32 scale helps it to fit the chassis better. It still needs a lot of body work as you can see B) .

It felt great cutting up an old original kit :P .

By the way, I like your Red one. I know the box that mine came in shows a different body stile, but what came in the box is the bug eye.

what the???

:)

the box art showed a spriget but the body inside was the frogeye?

wow thats kinda strange!

but the scale you say is about right for 1/25 but maybe also for 1/28... 1/2 inch scale is 1/24.

no wonder i didnt recall the aurora one, i always thought it was 1/32. in fact i have a body i was putting on a slot

car chassis as well. randy if you got more slot car projects you should post pics in the slot car section, its pretty dead over there. for a while and period of about 5 years i was doing a lot of 1/32 slots, many conversions from static models. i for one would love to see some of yours if that frogeye is any indication!

Very straight forward, that for sure. Are those Mini wheels?

Will, oh yeah, that's the main one but I plan on doing some and this ought to get mixed feelings from people. Who knows, he might do more, you should post some up too, get the slot car section alive again. :D
