cobraman
This is a dio I have been working on for a friend. Not quite done but mocked it up for these photos. Car is a Polar Lights pre painted 65 Dodge that just happened to be the color I needed. I did not do any extra detailing except for changing the black interior to blue. The base is a few pieces of wood some of which is covered in Celuclay. The road surface is cardboard. Base was painted and then the ditch was dry brushed and then some Magic Water was put in to form the ice pockets. Snow foam was used for extra texture. Snow material was glued to the rough texture of the land area. White paint was used as a base on the road surface and then "snow" was applied. Tire skid marks were made using the "detailer" and then some snow foam was applied to the road to add more snow texture. Some small bushes with snow were added as well a scratch built street sign that was hit by the car. You will notice that the passenger side tire is pointing in a different direction than the other front tire. Now the story. My best friend in our teen years took his dads 65 Dodge out when his folks were away. He went over to the next street and was doing burnouts. He lost control and went into a ditch knocking down a street sign in the process. He also broke the tie rod. Somehow he managed to get the car out of the ditch and limp it over to his house. Soon after his folks arrived home followed by the police. He was in deep do-do. I was not with him as he knew I would try and talk him out of doing this. He was 15 at the time and I was 16. That was many, many years ago and I had lost touch with him about 40-45 years ago. He found me about 4 months ago doing a search knowing I liked to build models. He in fact tracked me down on this forum and sent me a PM. You may remember the 66 Chevy I built for him awhile back. I am sending this to him as a surprise and hope it at least is close to what actually happened. Thanks for reading this long winded post.
