HotRodaSaurus
In the 1-1 world of 1970s Funny cars I have an extensive collection of 1970s drag mags but cannot find many references to this car. Plenty for others such as the Revellution of Ed Mculloch, Jim Libermans Vega and the Pisano Matsubara cars etc. I know the Revell kit is not the greatest but I love the paint job on this funny so I am looking for pics to build a replica using the Jo-Han Pinto funny car as a starting point. Any websites or magazines you know of feature this car? Thanks, John
raisin27
I believe the car only ran one time with that paint scheme. I found this posted on a drag racing board.............. http://www.draglist.com/stories/SOD-Jan-2003/SOD-011103.htm Edited October 23, 2008 by raisin27
Hondo
John, The red M/T Pinto body ran for over a year and ended it's life as you see in Raisin's reply where it was destroyed in NY in the summer of 1972. The blue body "Revellazer" lasted a very short time and was replaced by the yellow "Revelleader" Grand AM body at the start of 1973. Here's a few pictures: The 2nd Pinto that replaced an earlier blue and gold (yellow)body 1972. The Revellaser body. The Pontiac Grand Am body in 1973. As far as succes goes.......Dale Pulde, who drove these cars is one of the best funny car drivers, ever..........They did very well during this time. Slixx has the decals for the Revellaser Pinto. http://www.slixx.com/1592.htm?id=2764 Hope this helps, Hondo Edited October 25, 2008 by Hondo
1320wayne
Hondo, I have an old Hot Rod issue with a color spread of the Titanium Pinto which was the blue and gold car. If it will help I may be able to get it scanned for you.
HotRodaSaurus
I love these 1970s funny's. They were still a good reprisentation of what was on the street back then. If you drove a Ford you wanted the Fords to win, same with the Challengers, Cuda's etc despite the fact that they mostley ran a Chrysler based mill. I remember the yellow Mickey Thompson car, not the red though. I love the Pinto shape but fave is the Vega and Cuda equally. Thanks all, John
Hondo
Hey Wayne, Thanks for the offer to scan the M/T article. I think I have that also in my "stuff". Good to hear from you. I haven't done much modeling lately. HRaSauras, glad to help. Yep, I think the Cudas, Vegas & Mustangs also were my favorites. Hondo
