hey all ,

just started the john buttera kit from revell.

it seems a bit small , alright its a model t but its in 1/25 ...and therefore i think its just a tad too small in scale

the molding isnt great but also not bad ..

the thing this kit really has going for it is the fact that there are a lot of parts and even the chassis needs assembling , i like kits with as much as possible parts to assemble.

i wil build this one custom , not out of the box .. more in the t-bucket style but keep it a 4-seater

the boxart

13707_237308606402057_1938153179_n.jpg

the body had 4 doors molded in the body

270265_237308619735389_1575779416_n.jpg

i didnt like those so i flattened the sides

406077_237308653068719_400460396_n.jpg

on the front there was a raised vent buldge ,

i also flatetned that

385276_237308699735381_592893094_n.jpg

then sanded the whole body flat

Actually, the bodies in the Revell series of T kits based on that tooling are very close to correct. I have the tall sedan-delivery version and just checket it with 1:1 dimensions, and with AMT's '27 T. The REAL problem with the T kits is the undersized Ford smallblock V8. Check it against the correctly scaled Ford smallblock engine in Revell's '32 Fords and you'll see what I mean.

There is a Revell '34 Ford based on the T chassis in this kit that is REALLY undersized, as it was shrunken to fit the tiny T chassis. Stay away from that one.

well i cut the whole cab into pieces and i'm making it smaller with the bench as seat ....

maybe a round tank behind the cab ??

the cab gave me a fight , nothing lined up after cutting , but with some patience i managed to get something going , waht you see on the pics isnt done but already very solid

not really trying to get the dimensions perfectly the same like a real t-bucket just trying to get something cool going

all rough >> still needs loads of work

hey ,

made a firewall today from a side of the hood , with the louvres on it , on the flat parts on the right i made a brake booster

i used a old revell booster and made the top half as big , made it sit more fluch against the wall and added a new top

735015_239017776231140_833722424_n.jpg

then shortened the chassis to get the look like i showed with the reference pics

406576_239017752897809_1264443333_n.jpg

with the body on

312436_239017736231144_1409432605_n.jpg

not doing a rear tank , want a clear rear end where the dif and suspension is visible

also reglued the top part of the window , the chopped window made it look weird and too small , now you can see a person looks big in it due to the window hight

541989_239017792897805_2106517138_n.jpg

love this chassis like this visible , something different from closed rails for ounce

282957_239017882897796_829839945_n.jpg

later when everything is sorted out i will make some extra support members in between the chassis (from side to side)

dont mind the brake set up on the firewall , i realised i screwed that up and ..... going to change that

used the roof to make a smooth underside on the rear , now the rear will flow into the rear bottom nicely

19505_239696916163226_317435237_n.jpg

150676_239696919496559_1516687308_n.jpg

sanded the rough shape into it

58646_239696939496557_563622924_n.jpg

some bondo

543113_239696936163224_1538586869_n.jpg

309636_239696949496556_1949520122_n.jpg

shortened the drive shaft after the frame was shortened

16783_239696976163220_1532797347_n.jpg

made a small round space in the firewall , maily for looks it ran free of the engine / trans but this looks better

changed the brake booster , i hate it and i will use some reference on the net and make a complete scratch version later

63597_239865539479697_1077794540_n.jpg

the underside came out smooth

46170_239865542813030_302080156_n.jpg

so the body sides flow over into the bottom with smooth corners

582449_239865572813027_1386783150_n.jpg

sides are pretty sleak as well

486352_239865582813026_883677131_n.jpg

closed the floor section

408549_239865562813028_1026226223_n.jpg

i made a small fake tunnel just felt it looked a bit better instead of all flat

the firewall lines match nice with the seat

found a cool interiour pic of a t

It's turning out very cool ! The shortened chassis with the tall windshield helps the look a lot , and the new brake master cylinder looks good .

You've done a lot of surgery to get the body the way it is and it looks great ! Keep posting !

thnx guys :) well actually did not had a set plan in the beginning , first wanted to try the long chassis with drag wheels in front.. then found some cool pics of short wheel base buckets and just loved the whole look of them and tooold yes the body actually was hacked up pretty good .. what i like most myself is that untill now everything is done using only the content of the kit , no added styreen not that adding styreen is a bad thing no def. not but its just fun to see that you can convert a kit using 99% of the kit also just happened did not do that on purpose :)

thnx :) well i did got some primer on it today :)

first did the pedals and shifter like the reference pic i showed before here ..

i still need to find a nice round thing for the shiftknob , there are pins with round heads i will look for those i think

870_240619239404327_1099209274_n.jpg

then made a steering wheel out of 2 steering wheels , i wanted a sort of deep dich in it and the one wheel i had was way to big , so i took a smaller one and made one out of the 2

398066_240619236070994_1251243202_n.jpg

then desided to use these rims i never use the revell rims and desided to use a set for the first time :)

als made my own back sides , the rears are spaced so the wheels sit out more and run free of the body

541914_240619272737657_478298106_n.jpg

then sprayed the new back sides chrome

603358_240619359404315_1675480815_n.jpg

63721_240619366070981_848065707_n.jpg

then hit it with some primer , def some small bondo work but pretty smooth already now some of the detail shows better
