Bugatti Royale T 41 Napoleon Coupe 1930

The serie T 41 was built for kings but no one bought one of tham. The Napoleon coupes body was built by Weimann for the Bugatti family on the shortened chassis of the prototype after that the original was destroyed in an accident by Ettore Bugatti.

The model was built from an Italeri kit. I made the hood removable to show the engine and covered the dashboard with mahagony veneer. I painted this car with an automotiv lacquer. The last two photos are showing the 1:24 model with its little brother scale 1: 75 built from about 150 parts - all scratchbuilt.

Harry: ... microscope ? No and yes ! No microscope used of course but I work under a magnifier integrated in a lamp. (my eyes are not the old ones – they are old soon)

As Charlie asked for more pictures of the small model I have a question: I made all of the eleven body variations of Bugatti Royale in the same scale ever built by different coachbuilders. Do you mean I should post them all here in this forum ? All together in one post (would be nearly 100 photos) or separatelly with short story ?

BTW you can check out my earlier models 1960 – 1992 in this scale at www.planetdiecast – log in – Site Map – Catalog – Famous Toymakers – search for Janos Velics.

The last two photos are showing the 1:24 model with its „little brother” – scale 1: 75 built from about 150 parts - all scratchbuilt.

Since this board prohibits the use of expletives, I'll have to settle for just saying I'm impressed. I hope we'll get to see more of your work soon.

sjordan2: sorry I didn`t built this kit but I have the Weinberger (Victoria) Cabriolet and the Berline Double Voyage in 1:24 scale on my shelves. They are waiting since more years. I have still not enough fortitude for such great projekts.

I've seen some nice builds of the Weinberger Cabriolet, and I think your Royale Naploeon looks far more difficult. I bet you could nail it. Check out the book by Gerald Wingrove, "The Complete Car Modeller 2." The entire book is about how he scratchbuilt a large-scale Weinberger Cabriolet. Probably easily available in Hungary from Amazon or other sources.

Also, check his website at www.geraldwingrove.com for pictures of the original car and his model.

You don't have to go with Wingrove's color scheme. This one has off-white gray paint and a green top and interior.
