tim boyd
On a more upbeat note, this Jeep kit (and its various derivatives/predecessors) is one of the best "unsung" kits on the market. Check it out....for a kit originally tooled by Monogram circa 1978, this one (and I am speaking of all the variations, not just the Mork and Mindy versions) was head and shoulders above their other new kits of the era in accuracy, proportions, and building variations, and it stands up well versus the newer kits of today. unclescott58
This might be a good time to reissue the Mork & Mindy Jeep in its original packaging as a tribute to Mr. Williams. Or is that too morbid? Morbid or not, I'd buy one in his memory. Scott
Daddyfink
I've built a few of them over the years and I am going to build one again soon!

keyser
Great kit, have a few, agree with Tim. However, box art for Mork and Mindy looks unlike a CJ-7. Just noticed it looking at boxart posted. Door square and short? CJ-7 has longer doors with rounded edge IIRC. Kit great. I'm old, so maybe I'm wrong. RIP RW. 1930fordpickup
I agree Lee, the tires even look as if they were added later.
Joe Handley
Found this still from the show with the Jeep. Looks like is was a CJ-5 instead of a -7 used for the show. May have some old school chopping done to make it look like a CJ-7. Edited August 15, 2014 by Joe Handley

unclescott58
Hey, I think they photoshopped the photo on box way back when! With computers just above rocks and stone knives. Obviously they air brushed the photo taken from the show of the CJ-5, and converted it to a more modern CJ-7. The show came out about same time as the CJ-5 was fazed out, and CJ-7 was being fazed in. If your tooling up a new Jeep kit aimed at kids, wouldn't you look long term and do the CJ-7. Most kids would never know the difference. Interesting observation about "Keyser (and Joe)", Tim. Wrong spelling for Kaiser. And wasn't Joe gone by the time Kaiser got Jeep? I'm assuming that's what your referring to? Scott

Daddyfink
The kit is a CJ-7 and Mindy drove a CJ-5 in the show. I guess it is just Monogram using their available tool to cash in on the show.

keyser
(smile)....I was responding to Keyser's post above, as well as Joe Handley's comments that followed.....TB Some would say it's a great CJ-7 kit with bad boxart pchop. Others may say it's the worst kit of a CJ-5 everrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... and we should be glad we got it. I always found it curious that it is quite different from the snap kit of the CJ-7 beach patrol kit. It also virtually falls together with great ride height and other than sl. fiddly doors/ht fit, not much else to complain about. The safari stuff from the 70 Jeepster kit fits pretty well too. That is higher in project stack than my warped 57 convert.

unclescott58
http://bit.ly/1mVWSOG Sorry, I did not find this link overly helpful. A lot more pictures of the model box. And one or two Jeep kits that could be based on the same kit. Scott P.S. I do know how to Google search are ready. I have found many great links to older models and topics in this forum that way.
