walkways ?

I'm working on an Oshkosh front discharge mixer, and hoping someone can point me in the right direction. The truck has a walkway above the cab with an open diamond style mesh ...affectionately called a crows nest. Searching for a material that would work for this walk way? The scale is 1/25.

Check at AC Moore, Michael's, or Hobby Lobby for Amaco WireForm. It's a small mesh that is used as a structure for clay sculptures. Here is a pic of the 1/8" aluminum Sparkle Mesh on the back deck of my GMC Astro:

Check the kitchen aisle of your local grocery store, hardware store, kitchen and appliances store etc. Look for frying pan spatter screens, a round screen about 12" in diameter with a handle. They are used to put over a frying pan to reduce grease splatter.

Many just use a very fine window screen, but there are some that use a very fine expanded metal mesh that is perfect for model trucks. Pretty cheap to, maybe $5 or 6 for almost a square foot of material.

I used it on the cage for my Cat D-8

and in the grill of this Paystar

These are both great ways to get some mesh....Be careful with the spatter screens....After you cut them, they tend to have sharp edges.... I know from experience, if you catch my drift.....

Another neat place to look for different stuff like this is at the Dollar stores,they have all kinds of kitchen appliance type of stuff,even in the craft section there can be some goodies. Harvey
