Quick GMC Posted March 19, 2015 Share Posted March 19, 2015 I thought I would check and see if they have anything new and I ended up spending over an hour looking at all their designs. They have some pretty freaking rad stuff now Nelson Racing twin turbo Big Block complete system. They also make the twin turbo system with the Nelson Racing alien intake to put on your own motor. They have a triple stromberg setup and a ton of stuff in 1/24 & 1/25 now. Lots of turbo setups, intercooler configurations, etc. Also some really nice Holley carbs, etc. I am putting an order together for some stuff. They also have complete big block engine setups with Lencos and Muncies. Goodbye wallet I'll post some stuff when I get the parts in. I have already bout the 3" 1/24 turbos, which were way bigger than I wanted. I am looking for really small R/H & L/H turbos for my Tamiya R390 GT1. I am ordering the 2" 1/25 turbo setup, hopefully it's the right size. The parts look nice. They also have complete pro stock frames, bodies, etc. 92 pages of designs. I am currently working on some of their older stuff, in that "sand cast" finish and even for 1/8 scale its pretty rough and requires quite a bit of labor to get it near smooth. so I am hesitant about ordering a bunch more stuff until maybe I know more about their state of the art nowadays. what I want to know basically is are the 1/24 parts basically ready to use, with maybe some minimal flash cleanup, or do they require more work than that to get a semi- smooth realistic finish? thanks and any photos would be appreciated. jb Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I wonder if you could just use a filler primer or something, then sand smooth? I have never used on before so I don't know what the limits are. jbwelda Posted March 21, 2015 Share Posted March 21, 2015 that's what they recommended you do with their old sand cast 1/8 scale stuff I have. one problem: you have to basically bury the detail in the stuff to get it smooth, either that or remove it during the smoothing process. so a lot of it was what I would refer to as "false detail", in that yeah its detailed but youre going to either have to be very careful with some very tedious sanding (a LOT of very tedious sanding in 1/8 scale) or remove the detail and then later replace it with your own detail or do without. looks like the new stuff is miles ahead of that though because to be honest, in 1/24 scale, the roughness would overtake the part, and it looks like the parts illustrated above at least can be worked with. jb Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
