FASTBACK340
I've decided to do a quick shelf-model build of my Barracuda. This way I have something to display with my car when appropriate and later I can crack open an old annual and do a full-boogie number on it. I need to get back in the saddle with a few quick-builds to get the interest going. That Woody last winter became a project that got rushed for NNL East. Not this year. No rush jobs..... Here's a resin re-pop of the Hemi under Glass (I had thought it was a promo at first) as it doesn't have vent windows! This will be the first modification. I've already deepened the panel lines and added the missing seams for the fenders and cowl. Yeah.... no engine on this one. That will come at another time with the eventual full detail build. Got my L1 Turquoise from MCW, my Drag Radials from Joseph (They look great BTW!) and I have a set of billet dog dish hub caps somewhere. Now to clean the room....... FASTBACK340
I forgot to mention all the chrome & lenses are on their way (I hope....) from Modelhaus, I have a bombed-out `67 annual built-up I can pirate the interior tub and chassis from. I also have a few sets of Keith Marks `68 Barracuda graphics. The Formula-S emblems are to die for.....

Guest
Looking forward to this. A new tool of this body style is badly needed. Even more that the 70.
dragcarz
Had a Black on black 67 Fastback years ago, 273 auto, buckets , air shocks and Cragar SS wheels......I miss that car!!!! You're doing great I be following this one.
Guest
This will be a really cool project! To me, there's nothing better than a model built after the real thing! Were there different year "HUG's"? I'm thinking the one I have in my stash is an earlier model than the Barracuda in your avatar.

As much as I'd like to tear into a full-detail build, I need the practice to be honest. A quick shelf build will get me back into the air brush and finishing skills. Remember, I've only built a few simple projects after am almost 10 hiatus! I have about a half dozen `68 annuals so I have material to work with. I just don't want to screw it up. The Hemi under Glass reference is that the body is cast w/o an opening hood and no vent windows. Yes, the original was rear-engined and they ranged from `65 on up to `69, although I have seen a Hot Rod centerfold with a `70 `Cuda wheelstander that just reads "Hemi under Glass" without the Hurst sponsorship on the doors. And as for the real one, I have some photos in my gallery and a very short video of her at idle in my driveway. But here's 2 shots now: Edited December 13, 2013 by FASTBACK340

FASTBACK340
John nothing better then building your 1:1. Any more updates on your build. Unfortunately no updates. I'm a couch-potato tonight as I'm staying close to my Wife as she had some minor surgery yesterday and she's a bit sore. Tomorrow I plan on spending the day re-organizing the room as I need to set up my spray booth and throw out garbage. I also need to make some shelves too. Then we drop the clutch and shift at the chip.... Man, everything I touch turns into a #$%@^&^% project !

FASTBACK340
A Hemi with drum brakes? I admire your bravado! Sweet car. How many do you have? I regret not swapping out to the big bolt pattern on the wheels. I love those Weld Pro Stars on Fastbacks. Sharp car you have there. If I was doing mine over, I would have went with the 6.1 Hemi/Tremec 6 spd. swap. If my wife see's me typing about replacing the engine she'll kill me...... Skypower
That's part of the upgrade disc brakes all around. I did coil over ladder bar rear end as part of the upgrade also. Car has been parked for two years now but we are getting close to having it back up and running. Hopefully have it back on the road this spring. I have two of them a 68 and the 69, after I get the 69 back up and running I am going to put the 68 on a rotisserie and do the body then switch all the Hemi stuff over to the 68 and then make the 69 a play toy since its really a ten footer. 69 is an original 383 formula S 4 speed car. I almost did the 6.1 swap myself but I have never owned a original Hemi so I just opted to go that way. My motor is an original not a repop crate motor. 550hp 515tq. Should be fun when I get it up and going. Edited December 15, 2013 by Skypower
