S. Svendsen
I was looking to build something out of the ordinary. I bought this MPC '83 Chevy Cavalier off ebay for super cheap and thought it would make a cool fictional IMSA road racing car. The IMSA style fenders are included in the kit. I'm using tires from an '80s Indys car and BBS wheels from my parts box. I've added a tall rear spoiler from a 1/20th scale Z-28 kit which I cut down to fit. I plan on making my own decals to represent a fictional factory backed Chevy team. Edited September 5, 2011 by S. Svendsen

S. Svendsen
I dig these wide bodied cars too. There are due for a comeback.
oldscool
I kinda like this one too. It looks like it has a nicely molded body. gus
Rob Z
This will definitely be something worth watching... My father had an '84 Cavalier and I had a brand spanking new one in '87, I loved those cars they were fun to drive and economical. This build is definitely something you don't see every day, can't wait for more...
Chuck Most
I have that same kit- but I"m turning mine into an '83 Olds Firenza. I didn't think it would look too hot as a wide body IMSA car, but seeing yours mocked up I'm beginning to have second thoughts.
Scale-Master
I too really like that IMSA styling. Looking forward to seeing you bring this one alive.

whale392
Don't let Mike (Wheelman) see this; he used to be BIG into the first-Gen Berettas and small GMs! Build it; cool as all heck and something you NEVER see on the table!
Foxer
What a difference some wider hips make. This is actually a cool looking body! Looking forward to see this progress.

Guest
Looks pretty cool! Seeing this has given me second thoughts about tossing the fender flares on my Monza Spyder kit.
S. Svendsen
Here's a quick sketch done in photoshop of what the final paint scheme will look like. I sketch out rough ideas like this so I can experiment with color and graphics.

Sully
Looks good so far. I like the Photoshop rendering. I built an IMSA car using the MPC Mustang II. I think it was called Mustang Python. Sully

ChevyFan
Looking great so far. I'm liking the look of those decals you wanna make. I did notice something that didn't quite look right to me and that is you'll wanna check your spelling of chevrolet before you print off the decals. Not unless you are starting up a new company to "factory back" this car.
brodie_83
Wow...that is kinda a neat looking kit! I wish they made a kit of an 88-90 Cavalier Z24. It was my very first car and still wish I had it. Thing was gorgeous and decently quick. Good luck with the build! I'll be watching you...I mean the build
