yes !! thats awsome !!! whowbtw if i remember correct the engine was placed the other way round right ??

Correct the engine points the other way in stock form, the only modification required to make this work would be to pull the axels and differential and swap the ring gear and carrier from one side of the transaxle to the other. Could also have a transaxle out of a Spyder or other factory mid-engine car, most likely ring gear swap. With the factory doing the work the price soon zooms to unobtainium!

Instead of the dual distributor set up, Bill Rutan used an 8 cylinder distributor hanging off the front of the engine:

here is my attempt to duplicate it:

Don't have a clue as the firing order, will use photo to make it close

Started to modify the wheels:

Wheels, Tires, Front Suspension and engine coming together:

Chassis with skin almost done:

discovered I had missed a panel across the front of the chassis:

As you can see, I've added "rivet/screw" detail using Archers rivet decals:

and adding mirror housings to the front VW bonnet/hood:

wow that's excellent. I am a big fan of that quad cam (grenade) motor. having built a few myself one thing I would suggest is you seek out and buy the photoetch set that replaces the cylinder fins. that horizontal crack through them is gonna kill ya.

looks great so far, I love the chassis work youre doing

Really nice engine William

Fujimi did a really superb job detailing this little Porsche 4-cammer...it doesn't need much extra detail

plus I'm not a big fan of photo-etch...go figure

thanx

btw i dont know if you have like real close up pictures of the interiour and dash / steering wheel ?

yesterday i found some awsome pics and posted them in my post but they could not be hosted true %7Boption%7D here and the link only brought me to a general album..

i also notoced the car has got a tiny piece of glass or plexi / lexan glass in a aluninium strip as some sort of tiny windscreen ?

also found the handbrake lever was drilled to ... full of holes for weight savings ..

that was not done real neit and i even read the lever broke at one point and they just welded a plate to it again :)

those pics are in this album > if you click twice you can get them real big ..

i will bet you already found this but hey you never know right :)

I was trying to test fit the engine/transaxle into the chassis, realized...after finally getting it in place - it wasn't coming back out!

Went ahead and installed the wheels/tires thus enabling the installation of the rear suspension componets as pictured...

Couldn't find a proper steering wheel in the parts box, so i added three spokes to the rim and center

hub from the VW kit...

constructing the exhaust from solder and parts box goodies...
