"50" Custom 3100 (Finished)

Recommended Posts

Thought I'd start the new calender year with a WIP, this the AMT Texaco 3100 pick up kit. So far I've:

Shortened the bed 6 scale inches, smoothed the body and removed all hardware, re-skinned the tailgate, added an Olds front bumper, swapped the headlights and set it on some nice Caddy wheels and white wall tires. The real change will be the chassis, it will have running/rolling gear from a "67" Corvette.

Just a little mock up with the 427 and I believe some Camaro seats and console. If you notice I glued up the body completely.

So in order to fit the interior I cut a section out of the back to allow the tub to squeeze in place.

That allows me to do all the body work and paint before final assembly. I will say it is tight but fits nicely.

I'll try something with those door panels next.
