  1. I haven't been directly involved with aviation for a few years now, but when I was, the ATC software was built on top of "legacy" programs, patches on top of patches on top of patches, and none of the current crop of IT guys had any working knowledge of the underlying system, and the geezers who did were either dead or gone fishing.
  2. It's often pretty straightforward to swap wheels from kit to kit, even when the design of the backs is that different. ONE way with those would be to cut off the protrusions the metal axles plug into from the kit wheels, and attach them to the wheels you want to use...paying attention to axle width and the resulting depth of the replacement wheels in the body. You may need to measure and add spacers to get everything right. OR...you could make receivers for the metal axles from appropriately sized styrene tube, and just glue them to the backs of the new wheels. Those are just two possible solutions. There are many ways to do it, clean and easily.
  3. Pilots need to rely on air traffic controllers and do what they're told, but in the event of an emergency or conflict, the aircraft's safety is absolutely the pilot's responsibility...no matter what.
  4. Confusing is when all the voices in your head are arguing over what to do next, how to do it, why it should be done, and if they can put it off until tomorrow.
  5. "Myself" is the fella I usually talk to when I'm working, and why my cohorts think I'm kinda nuts.
  6. I've had days when I could knock that over and not even know it until everything on the bench had melted and whatever liquid gloo remained started dripping on my leg...
  7. And that's why the D-K findings don't apply to you. D-K fellers really believe they're way smarter than they are, and that everything they do is worthy of praise...no matter how abysmally bad it might be. They often can't be reasoned with and are difficult in business because they're convinced their understanding of everything is perfect, and are not open to even considering other viewpoints or established facts of which they may be ignorant. This is also called "willful ignorance". Non-D-K fellers at the opposite end of the self-awareness spectrum tend to underestimate their intellect and ability, and if anything are too humble. A very wise man once told me that true humility was found through honest introspection, leading to seeing yourself as you really are. He further explained that what that means is that there's nothing wrong with knowing there are things you shine at and admitting it, and there's nothing wrong with admitting there are also things you're not-so-good at. True humility...the important word being "true".
  8. Metal-heads tend to say "what??" a lot in conversation.
  9. Can we maybe not be in such a hurry to jump the gun?
  10. "Good grief!!! " pretty much says it all.
  11. The fact that Messrs. Dunning and Kruger's research conclusions do in fact accurately describe a significant part of humanity, and there's just no getting away from them.
  12. Box some personalities in, and at some point you'll wish you hadn't...too...hadn't.
  13. Still hanging occasionally, no matter what browser I use and no matter how frequently I "clear the cache". Photos often take a loooooooooooooooooooooooong time to load too. Sometimes hangs during login, sometimes the only way to get it to unfreeze is try to logout...which often hangs too...and log back in. It hangs whether logged in or not, by the way.
  14. Maybe I'll play. I own 2, drive one daily, and have plenty of kits and gloobombs to pick from. Then again, I barely have time to post my verbal idiocy on here, so maybe not.
  15. Mellow Yellow is still made, so truth once again is stranger than fiction.
