Get the wheels from the Monogram/Revell 1/24 1970 Plymouth Road Runner kit. Cop wheels. Best you can do from a kit. Some resin casters supposedly did the wheels, but I don't know who. 1972coronet Posted June 9, 2013 Share Posted June 9, 2013 I've always used the stock , plain wheels and tyres from the AMT Chevy Van ; in particular the 80's A-TEAM version . The Monaco's hub caps are *acceptible* , though not necessarily 'correct' . I was really hoping that when Round2 got their turn at reissuing this kit , that they would've at least got rid of those stupid deep dish wheels (more at home on a four wheel drive pickup !) and those ridiculous "Country Wide" tyres . In 1976, the Mopar copcars began instituting the slotted wheels, which are represented well by the Revell 70 Roadrunner kit. The hubcaps are close, but need the vent holes to be totally accurate. A resin company called "Plaskit" out of Quebec sells the correct slotted wheels with correct caps. Not all the 77-78 Fury/Monaco copcars had the slotted wheels, but most did. I have photos of the cars with both style wheels. To convert the kit to a Fury, you can either use the Missing Link resin body for a 75-76 version, or use the front grill from a Yodel 77-78 Fury for the later years. Paid $12.50 for it. Now $125.oo is closer to Normal!!!! And Yes, I know I need the Plymouth grill to make a Correct LAPD cruiser out of it! I have already got a set of Can lights ready for it. But, need the siren! I do like those 2 New York Cruisers. Is that Aerodyn on the State PD a Tamiya Piece? And where did the Rotators on the City unit come from? tomsheehy Posted June 10, 2013 Share Posted June 10, 2013 Dan...the siren can be had from the Duster Cop Out kit, or there is a resin guy doing it...I think he's on eBay from time to time. The Aerodynic on the NYSP Fury is an original Ken Gipson piece. His work was so fantastic, he is truly missed in this niche of ours. The NYPD Fury was built by a friend of mine, Dave Neuman of Chicago. The lights on it are actually scratch built. The domes are the tops from pen caps, modified accordingly. I SO Want to Build one of those!!! But..... 67 Pilot, 68 First Season, 69 Second & Third Season?? Does anyone yet offer a 71 Satellite 4dr sedan body?? How hard would it be to convert the MCW nascar 2dr Matador to a 4dr Sedan?? Did you add the Correct Amber lenses to the rear of the Cans?? One could be built off of the MPC 1977 / 1978 Monaco ( Roscoe's Car , et al. ) , as it's the same bodystyle from 1971 - 1978 , with mostly cosmetic differences ( in 1/25 scale , of course ; the 1:1 underwent a lot of changes ! ). The grille and front clip for the 1971-1974 versions could be based upon the MPC 1971 Road Runner (similar yet vastly differences between 2 and 4 door models) , with the rear bumper / quarter panel extensions similaraly sourced (again , rear bumper is different from the 2 door).
