. Fun fact re the '37 Chevy: the AMT '49 Mercury's flathead V-8 is a perfect drop-in fit if you want to surprise a few Stovebolt fans.

Yeah CHRIS! Finally, sweet revenge for all those SBC's stuffed in Ford Street Rods. Now, where's that 5.0L Ford powered '69 Z-28 I've been looking for? (GRIN)....TIM

Check out February of 2015! Nelson Carter's Super Chief Charger Funny Car. That's pretty cool!

Jim Kampmann

Jim...that is way cool. That original SuperChief in the 1968 Car Craft mag was the inspiration for one of my most winning model cars (the '69 Charger F/C with the working axle/driveshaft/blower drive).

This version appears to me much more sympathetic to the late 1960's funny car configuration than many of today's so-called "nostalgia" funny cars.....TIM

Very curious about that '59 Dodge body sitting there! That's the only model that has the CORRECT '57-'59 two door hardtop roofline. I have a lone body that I was going to cut up to fix the '58 Plymouth...........but with them being somewhat rare (and pricey), I don't have the heart to do it.

There's another curiosity I see.........looks like a '57 T-Bird at the very bottom of the one pic. Diecast or plastic? Anyone know the scale? A full detail kit of the '57 'Bird is VERY much needed!

I think the 57 TBird is a 1/18th diecast

if someone indeed does plan on reissuing the Chrysler turbine car, what would you figure the chances of it being the full detail version?

jb

That Turbine Car is the snap kit Johan had out several years, back, the rep told me they bought the tooling after the chance to came up, sounded the same for the '59 Dodge too. I also suggested to her that if they were to do their own detail kit of the Turbine Car, that I believe Chrysler still has at leas one running car and that I knew Jay Leno has one of the running cars too

I wonder if this is going to be the PL Charger kit with just some new decals. It would be great to get anything drag related new and if it had a one piece chassis,it would be easier to build .

Thanks Gerry for the pics, and any more you can post would be eye-candy!!!

Per Round2 there will be two versions of the Piranha kit:

Original Art Edition, release date Jan 2015: (The original box art painting was loaned to us by Gene Winfield!)

- will include 12 page photo booklet with photos of the real Piranha

- planning on molding the parts in metallic blue opaque plastic

- will include an extra set of smoke tinted window parts

- tires will be pad printed with red pinstripe on one side and blue stripe with Goodyear lettering on the other

- will include a newly developed decal sheet with markings for the "road racer" Piranha (not the dragster)

- will include an Original Art print

Standard Edition, release date April 2015

- molded in white

- regular tires (no pad printing)

- will not contain any of the extras in the OA version

Gerry...many thanks for your in-depth reports from the show. When combined with what I am expecting we'll hear from Revell later this quarter, 2015 is shaping up to be an extremely exciting year for the model car builder.

Gentleman, the Third Golden Age of modeling (a topic that I will have much more to say about later this year) is well underway!!!! TIM

First quarter Revell will be light on "newbies", but 2nd and 3rd quarter will be exciting!!!

I hate to be "that guy" , but why is there still no CTS-V ?

Would be very nice, I'd love to see one. But Round 2 and Moeibus only do vintage subjects for the most part now..unfortunately, the US modeling market is skewed towards older builders and older subjects. Modern subjects are an afterthought beyond a few token usual subjects (Camaro, Mustang, Challenger, Corvette).... those of us that like modern subjects continue to be ignored. :(

I, too, am curious about the '59 Dodge and Turbine car. Art, Dave, something, anything?

The AMT releases....have a Vicky already, I think. I'll double-check, if not, I'll get one.

The Blazer I'm a little interested in, I have a couple of ideas I might be able to use it for.

The redline tires might also be of interest.

What I'm really interested in, though, are a bunch of the 1/48 planes, especially the Stimson.

Curious to see what Revell has in mind.

That Stinson is the best of the lot. Most of the others are Lindberg tooling dating back to the early '50s and some of it is simply horrid. If there's another kit available of any of those subjects in 1/48, buy it, it's better.

The Tempest V is from mid-70s AMT tooling. Until Eduard did one about a decade ago, it was the only Tempest available in 1/48 and thus worth working with, and it's still so bad you hardly ever see one built. I'm one of very few people I know who actually got one together. (Think I'll post the pics of it down in the Anything Else section in case anyone is curious.*) Although it's from the mid-'70s, the kit looks like something Aurora or Hawk might have done in the late '50s or early '60s.

The Stinson you're interested in is from the same AMT line but by the time they did that one, they were starting to get a little better. IIRC that kit has a full cabin interior, is fairly accurate in shape, and, while not a box-shaker, CAN actually be gotten together into a pretty decent looking model airplane.

If you need any further talking-out-of on any of those Lindberg airplanes, let me know. I've built, owned, or thrown/given away most of them. B)

*Done. See:

Looks like Round 2 has some neat reissues coming. I really hope that they back date the 32 Vicky to include all the hotrod goodies from the first issues. IIRC those parts for the most part were still in the street rod series issues of the 32 Sedan and 32 Phaeton in the early to mid 70's. The Blazer will also be a neat one, I sure wish that they would find the Triumph motorcycle and go cart from the 1963 Chevy and Ford pickups. They would make for some neat parts packs. Better yet just find the pickups. lol

I see a few I like coming, But, am not sure what I will be able to get.

Wonder if Round2 will re-issue the "Fire Chief" version of the 32 Vicky?

That is one i would get!!!

I do hope that Moebius is planning to re-issue the 59 Dodge & 63 Chysler Turbine.

WIll they be announcing the other 2 IMC offerings 59 Rambler Wagon & 74 Olds Cutlass???

The late 60's-Early 70's Caddy Eldorado's you see under the Large 2015 Mustang are 1/64 scale Diecast

They will sell for about $5.oo-8.oo Each.

I believe Auto World sells the sets at $25.oo to 35.oo for 6 or 8 cars.

I will wait till they are around $2.oo-2.50 each.

The drag Pirana was out last less than 10 years ago.

So? In ten years there are none left on the selves of hobby shops here, from what I've seen. I also remember the last time they were out I knew nothing about the Piranhas and took no interest in it. This now has changed.

Who ever has got the old JoHan dies for the '59 Dodge and Turbine snap, there are a lot of other kits I hope they got the molds for. I'd love to see Oldies USA series come back. I want both the '60 DeSoto and Plymouth wagon. The '62 Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth kits, would also be cool. The '66 Marlin. How about the '66 Cadillac Hearse and Ambulance. The detailed Turbine car. And '68 Plymouth Police car, just to name a few. I think they would all be big sellers today. They have been off the market for far to long now. Oh, and let's not forget the Olds F-85 station wagon or the '62 Olds Starfire.
