Junkyard Charger Build

Hello all,

I've been lurking here for a few months and finally joined a couple of weeks ago. I've just started building models again after a looonnnnggggg break (about 15 years) and I'm loving it!

I've got a '62 Catalina and a '68 Mustang half finished, and I saw a General Lee on ebay a few weeks ago and bid on it before noticing in the listing that the chrome was missing! I kept an eye out and a few weeks later there was a 'Fast and Furious' Charger, also on ebay, which looked nasty but had all the chrome parts that I'd need to finish it off (it had a '69 grille/bumper).

It turned up last week and was even nastier that I thought! You can see how terrible the paint is in the closeup pics. On the plus side, it looks as though the builder also had a General Lee and had included all the chrome parts and more (how lucky was that?)

I thought it'd be a shame to bin the gluebomb Charger so I'm having a go at a junker.

So far I've separated the engine and box, separated the trunk lid and drivers door and built a new trunk lid. I've also shaved the passenger door handle and drilled holes where they would be if the handle was missing, and got rid of some pronounced molding lines around the rear quarter window.

The body's just gone into a tub of brake fluid so we'll see how it comes out.

More to follow soon hopefully!

Anth
