Chuck Miller's Fire Truck, and....

I set out to finally create a "Correct" (or darn close) Version of the REAL Fire Truck. The kit is the third MPC revamp of the Tognotti T chassis and engine, which isn't even close to what the real car had. Without going through a long history lesson on the kit, I took the main parts, body/ interior, rear wheels, an original set of MPC slicks, and various evergreen plastics, put 'em in a bag, shook vigorously, and here's what came out!!!

The real deal

They are beautiful models ! Your Fire Truck is excellent . . . nicest I've seen !

Where did you get the rear suspension in the Rodder's Journal version ?

Bob, the chassis under the R.J version is the chassis from the Fire Truck kit, the MPC Paddy Wagon, and the original Tognotti T. I scratch built the chassis under the Fire Truck.

Thanks for all the great replies!!!

Love 'em both!

It's no secret I'm a big fan of the Fire Truck- glad to see somebody finallly do it right and put the proper front and rear suspension setups under one. B)

Thanks Chuck, I knew you would like this one. There was quite a bit of work to create a correct version, but it had to be done.... :D

Here's a couple shots of the chassis, I used the radius rods from another Outcast kit, and the rear axle and drum brakes from an AMT '53 Ford p-up, everything else is scratched up. It's the only way to get this car right.

Right here- http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=51809&hl=%2Bfire+%2Btruck

I also did a quick review of an original kit and compared it to the current reissue, that's in the December issue of Model Cars. I now realized I failed to point out the incorrect suspension setups in both the online and print reviews. :(
