lanesteele240
Got the front end smothed out and primed. Pic inserted as soon as i get back home Here is a great little 1/12 i picked up on ebay It has an sr20det engine and tons of tuner parts Im using the engine on this build. I will try to make resin copys of that engine/turbo and other things. The rims will be nice on another build. Endless cool parts. Also found a few cool paint layouts This was posted on another of my builds And finally Pobably wont do the bre theam because it is done to death but that is one cool Z Edited February 1, 2015 by lanesteele240
lanesteele240
? still more work to do I cant stop this from cracking I have fixed it twice Any advice on how to fix this It is where ca glue squeezed out when trying to get the rear deck installed. It was bent all up
Twokidsnosleep
Nice looking kit Keep posting the progress, will follow along
stump
Gary, thank you for the very kind link to my build, but please....take nothing away from yourself and this epic build mate. What you have done so far looks darn brilliant mate, I LOVE it. (two thumbs up from me ) I'm liking how you molded in the wheel arch flares too.....very sleek. What have you got planned for motivation? Oh, and that rear hatch. Can you scribe out the excess super glue very carefully with the back pf an X-acto blade?? Looking forward to seeing more Gary. lanesteele240
Thanks mister Stump for the kind words. The fender flares look to bolted on for a race car so thus the molding. Thanks for noticing I doodled with the z for 4 hrs today and got no closer to getting the body ready for paint. I also made lip things for the air dam thing. Sorry for using all these technical words I boxed off the front of the kit with styrene sheet and filled in the back side. I may make air holes and run break cooling vents Edited February 3, 2015 by lanesteele240
lanesteele240
I also remove the rear deck and broke it in the process. I removed all the glue and sanded it in areas so It fits better now. Edited February 3, 2015 by lanesteele240
Kennyboy
Looking great Gary! For that part that keeps cracking......you could try a trick that I use when I cut apart and glue bodies together. Re-enforce the backside with ca glue soaked toiletpaper....sounds funny but it bonds to the surface like no tomorrow!!
lanesteele240
Great idea kenny. I work at a paper mill. A little softwood pulp will act just like fiber reinforcement in concrete
lanesteele240
I got the engine out of the 1/12 die cast. It is not very good. But i will make it work I can use these as well. Twokidsnosleep
Like the thinking raiding a die cast and incorporating it into your build Worked myself through school in a pulp mill...THAT really smells
Dave Van
We raced a Holman & Moody built Datsun 240 in SCCA back in the late 70's and early 80's. I'll be watching this!

Lucas van H
Looks good! I might have missed this, but are you building it as a race car or more of a street car?
lanesteele240
I have not given up on this one. The ice age that has gripped most of America has taken my energy and extra time This will be a streetable race car I have made changes to the engine to make it look more realistic. Pic up in a bit
lanesteele240
Well i got my z back from the painter. He blacked out all the crome and tail lights making her look special but still stock I used the kit in line six engine to be the base of the sr20det. It was longer so i cut it to the right size and then fit in the transmission things at the rear of the enging I also closed the intake and exhaust ports on the head to make way for the exhaust for the 4 cylender. Im starting to fake the timing chain cover but it is not looking good on the first attempt One more glamor shot of my z I promise i will stop with them now
