Monogram Goshawk in 1/72

Hello Everybody! It's been a while since I've been able to post. I've actually missed you guys! To give those who might have wondered where I dissappeared to, a short update, I moved again back at the end of July, Mom and Dad moved me home again. I'm physically unable to work, sometimes I'm unable to walk... and, at 38, I can't make it on my own... Less than three weeks after I came home, we lost Mom suddenly and unexpectedly to an apparent heart attack...She was 72. So now it's just me, Dad and two ornery Dachsunds and, after three weeks, life is just starting to look somewhat worthwhile again. I moved into much smaller digs, so I had to start 'thinking small'. Thankfully, I already had a pretty good collection of smaller armor and aircraft kits stashed back for a rainy day... Well, it's raining...

This is the OLD Monogram F11c-2 Goshawk, box stock. I built it in two evenings and it was refreshing to actually finish a project for a change. These old Monogram kits are nothing to snub ones nose at. They're simply engineered and go together nicely. the decal sheet was as old as I am and was in perfect condition...

This is a Beech AT-11 in 1/72. I can't tell you who made the kit as I got it without box or instructions. It's a bomber-trainer and I had to add detail to the nose section and scratchbuild a Norden bombsite. I had a lot of fun with this one... The finish is Model Master non-buffing Aluminum metalizer. The decals came from the spares drawer. The Dio base is a work-in-progress that I'll use for display when finished.

This last one is an ICM kit. This is the Soviet I-400. This was Russia's first all-metal mono-wing fighter, produced in the late 1920's. Ya gotta love the corrogated wing surfaces. Can you say, "Brick-like aerodynamic chracteristics."? This was a pretty straight-forward kit that I finished in one night.

Nice work, I built the Goshawk earlier this year. Those old Monogram kits are pretty nice particularly being 40+ years old. Sounds like you got lucky with the decals, mine were showing their age and took alot of work.

I have an AT-11 from PM, it looks like it could be the same kit. The I-400 is neat, it looks a bit like the WW1 German Junkers monoplane.

I think the AT-11 is a PM kit, It's the only maker I've found that makes an AT-11. I'd love to find another and build it as a Gunnery trainer...

Tower Hobby and Squadron both carry PM.

Squadron also has the Beech 18 under their Encore brand, this is just the PM kit with resin upgrades. Since the AT-11 was based on the Beech 18 you could probably use a lot of these parts on that kit if you wanted more interior detail.
