FASTBACK340
The majority of our work is resto-modding vintage cars. Disc brakes, lowered suspension, engines, wheels/tires, and killer paint and so forth. Some times you get one that is just a bit tough to pull off. Here we have an EARLY `64 Mustang that's getting the treatment. Aside from the 4 speed w/ scatter shield and disc brakes, we added a power twin circuit master, Borgensen power steering, and long-tube headers on his…..351W he has stuffed in there. Subframe connectors, Cal Tracs, 4-something locker out back. I can't wait to test drive this one, but man…. what a packaging nightmare! The power steering box, rear header tube, clutch Z bar, and power steering hoses all want to be in the same place. With a layer of brake lines and proportioning valve on top. We pulled it off with custom headers and P/S hoses and some finesse…. Early in the build: candy brandywine with a black interior. Polished torque-thrusts And here's a few shots of 5lbs. of stuff in a 2 lb. bag. This is the final product. All lines and hoses are finalized and all wiring/linkage is set. Add oil, gas, and water and she's a runner... Here's the drivers side. Tight is an understatement! Here's a good idea of the packaging and what's all in there. The steering box is directly under the brake booster/master cylinder and the clutch Z bar snakes around it, just missing the rear header tube. And the passenger side is totally un-restricted….. not that anything could be moved to that side! As much fun as it is, pulling that left side header in & out about 5 times was no simple task. The aligning, modifying, double-checking, re-adjusting, and final installation took 2 weeks start to finish between test fitting, making the pipes, and having them ceramic coated. THEN I could start assembling everything. It's a slow-go at times, but the finished car is going to be neat.
